Rumi once said, "There is a voice that doesn't use words. Listen. " Determination is securing a goal with energy and maintaining focus. It keeps us centralizd on a purpose. I first started college at the university of Louisiana at lafayette back in August of 2006. Being a first generation college student, I was more determined than ever to make my parents proud ,but it didn't go as planned. By the time the middle of the Spring 2007 rolled around I started having a few medical issues. And when fall semester came, the …show more content…
Soon after graduation I landed my first job ,but I still felt like something was missing. So eventually I decided dental assisting was not enough and that maybe finding a job thy encompassed the entire medical field would fill my void. I worked as a dental assistant for two year and then enrolled in nursing school in June 2012 to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. Two months after obtaining my licensure I accepted my first position as a Licensed Practical Nurse at a nursing home. It is there that the decision to become a Speech Language Pathologist came to me. I only worked for a short period before I got pregnant for a third time, with twins (currently their ages are 4, 2, and the twins are 1). While at home with the twins and a lot of encouragement from my mother I decided I needed to return to school. While researching the best school to attend for speech pathology the University of Louisiana at Lafayette was always at the top of the list. So it was easy to decide where I would be starting my college journey
Determination oftentimes makes us who we are as a person. It is something that is embedded deep inside the human nature. Determination is essentially the “steering wheel” of a person. It is up to the “driver” whether they want to take the effortless street or the harsh road on the mountain. Those who take the more challenging road usually results into a better reward and feeling in contrast to the boring and usual road. Humans, like any other species, would prefer to take the path of least resistance. This is not the case in this topic, it is that humans should be determined to succeed in something, because without determination, nothing would be achieved.
Dedication is key. No matter how hard it is to journey through something, dedication is what gets one through in the end. Even though things may get rocky and rough, the effort one puts in can turn the situation around completely. Dedication boosts one’s confidence in themselves. It helps one believe that if they can make it through what seems to be the worst of things, they can make it through to the end of anything.
Missionary Library’s were finally built in Kenya. John took advantage of the free education and spent hours reading there. A problem he faced however was getting inside. He was so determined he waited in line for 2 hours. The library was so packed that each school had a specific day to come in. John has also got up before dawn just to do get inside before the rest of his school could. That’s what I call determination.
How would you define determination? Determination is often having the motivation and willpower to see a goal, a task or an idea through to the end. Throughout our history, there have been many events that have shaped or had an effect on our country and the rest of the world. One of the most important—World War II. Determination is a driving force. For me, the determination to succeed has been my greatest ambition. I have strove to push my limits; to surpass even own my expectations. My determination to succeed has been the leading factor in everything I do for the larger portion of my life. I was determined to pass high school with fantastic grades. I was determined to ace every test and every paper. I was determined to get accepted into Arkansas State University. I am determined to become a doctor and help others. I am determined to be something bigger; to have something much greater.
Determination, to strive for what you want along life’s path, which is Achievement. Lorraine Hansberry’s book A Raisin in the Sun Both”,
When you undertake a mission, do you have an immense determination to complete it? People undertake different missions, some challenging and difficult, but they all have determination. Farah Ahmedi scaled a mountain with a prosthetic leg to survive. Aengus wandered for many years trying to find the "glimmering girl. " When people have a mission, they are determined to complete it, regardless of what it is.
If you aren’t determined to do something then you can be taken off track and that can harm you from completing your task. I show determination by doing my work and trying to keep it from getting less points from being late. By just doing you work even if it is long and tedious shows determination.
There are infinite hobbies and pastimes that could ignite a flaming passion in their soul. Fortunately for myself, that flame early on, though I did not realize until years later. From an early age I was involved in dance, choir, and theatre. Though performing did not start out as a passion, dancing and singing became an outlet to express myself. The arts is a fairly difficult field to get into; talent is a large factor in success, but sometimes connections can be an even larger factor. My passion for performing, especially theatre, kicked off during my freshman year of high school. Unfortunately, the department was political and unbeknownst to me, those politics would become the root of stress and disappointment for the next four years.
Life normally doesn’t go the way you plan when you’re young. When I was little, I figured that when I was at the age of graduation I would be totally prepared to go off my own. As I sit and think about the topic of how my life is going, several thoughts pour into my mind. First, I think of how lucky I am. The past two years could’ve changed my life because of bad health. Through weeks and months of hospitals stays and hours spent in the doctor’s office and in the emergency room, I’ve come out lucky and I have almost returned to good health. Second, I think of those friends who I thought would be there for my whole life that are no longer a part of my life. I also look to the people who I never thought would be there by my side and realize

Breathing heavily, a million things run through my mind. I’m dying. I can’t feel my feet. My lungs aren’t taking in oxygen fast enough. However, the finish line and the satisfaction of knowing that I had gotten myself through three miles loom ahead. Clenching my fists, I force myself through the indoor track at JCC. The excitement and pride that I feel when I finally achieve my goal is indescribable.
Throughout our lives, we make choices and decisions that change our lives and others in positive and/or negative ways. It is these decisions that determine how we will be remembered, our legacy. When I graduate high school, I want to be remembered by the qualities that define me as a person and the good I’ve done for others. Throughout the years, I’ve been often been described by my family and friends as bold, confident, outgoing, and hardworking. Not only are these characteristics important to me, but they are important to my family, as they want to leave a legacy in the name of our family. The qualities I have exhibited are the same qualities past family members have shown and are remembered for. Through always putting out my best effort when it comes to work and school, I have shown my dedication and discipline. Through doing what I can to help others, I have displayed my commitment to world peace, the betterment of the world as a whole, and the yearning to make a difference in someone’s life other than my
My father always said, "learn to walk before you jump" and for years that's what I've tried to do. But what's the point if all you keep doing is tripping along on the road of your future. All I've ever known is hard work and plenty of failures. However, without failure, there wouldn't be a success. Even in grade school, I knew I couldn't make it. Yet, somehow by some miracle, I'm still kicking it to make it through.
(www.merriam-webster.com) This is synonymous with my personal definition of determination. When the end is decided upon, there is no reason or desire to change said goal. A person under the influence of determination is comparable to a train. The train will not change its direction, as it cannot, and no matter what, the train will continue along the tracks until it either reaches its destination, or is stopped by the conductor. For as an example, my plan after high school is to go to college, and then move into the professional world. When confronted about possibly wanting to join the military, my answer is absolutely not. Going to college right after high school has always been my mindset, and there’s no way my determination will let that change. I am the metaphorical train, because my destination is set, and there’s no chance for me to adjust my direction. I will not stray from my goal, because it would mean wrecking myself and all those involved in my endeavors. There will be mountains in front of me, and people I may have to run over to reach my goal, but when one’s mind is set, they will not waver, and neither will I.
