College Admissions Essay: My Dad As A Role Model

Throughout life I’ve experienced a rather unpleasant childhood with the absence of my guiding figures: my parents. Seeing them rush in and out of the house to go to the hospital with my younger brother shaped me in a way nothing else could have. It made me who I am today, as well as aspired me towards what I want to be one day.

A role model is an irreplaceable person who often has a following of people who attempt to emulate their actions and reactions. They often are in places of authority or, rather, noble in the eyes of their attendants. Role models yield a lot of value in many societies proven through literature in “The Color of Water” by James McBride, observations of mentors both in history and the present, and my personal experience with leaders who I appreciate.

What is a role model? A role model is someone whose actions are looked up to and are imitated. In To Kill A Mockingbird, Atticus Finch is perceived as a perfect role model for his community. In reality, he is not a good role model. Atticus Finch both evades the truth, is a hypocrite, and doesn’t use his talent to fight the horrible social injustices of his society.

Role model. A role model is someone you should look up to. Someone whose behavior and success you should imitate. In the story “Marble Champ” by Gary Soto, the protagonist is a 12-year old girl named Lupe. Lupe is smart but horrible at athletics. Lupe is a role model because she is a hard worker, determined, and intelligent. More people should try to be like Lupe. With role models around, the world becomes a better place.

The person who influenced me most into applying to Syracuse University was my dad. My dad graduated with a degree from Syracuse, and has always been hardworking and passionate in everything he does. Going to Syracuse for me correlates with many of the traits my dad possesses, and by going to the same college he got his degree from, I hope that I can develop many of the same traits he possesses. Attending the university where my dad got his degree from would allow me to live up to the expectations my dad has set, for with his degree he was able to acquire a good job that allowed him to move up in life. Role models are individuals that set upon a good example. You went above that, threw your own life in a ditch just to save those who cannot possibly think twice of what they do. The unthinking ways of a teenager can lead to a torn family, or an illegal issue. If only we payed more attention to the ones who stand so much taller than us. We could learn to stand just as tall, or even taller.

A role model is defined as a person whose values, beliefs, and actions influence a younger person to act in a similar way. I would call you a role model, but you are so much more than that. Everyone has a role model in their life even if they might not realize it. Take a second and think about it; who’s your role model?...My role model is my sister Kaylee. Kaylee has always given me great advice on pretty much everything. She is always giving me advice for high school, sports, and even just life in general. I don't think of a role model as someone who does perfect in school or is really rich or very skilled in sports. If I did, I would end up living a boring, lonely life with some job that I don't even enjoy. I think of a role model as someone you want to take after or live a life the same way they did. That's exactly why I chose my sister Kaylee as my role model. Kaylee has always done things that she thought could be the best

  The  screaming and angry comments are made from a personal state of mind. Parents do and go through more than what most teens could imagine. My grandfather was one. My grandfather, Jesse was a strong, emotionally and physically. Apart from all the laughs and smiles, he is one of the most adventurous men  Ive ever met. To be realistic, no one's life is perfect with only happiness. In his early years, life was pretty rough for him growing up. His life consisted of hard work. He was only human to manage through such horrible events he had to go through. Such adventures formed my grandpa into the strong man he was.

From the moment babies are able to walk they are influenced by older people in the world. Kids look up to people because there hair, sport ablitity,clothes,people skills. Having a good postive role model in children and young adults to being a parent. Stephen curry is my role model because he is a outstanding althlete , an sublime teammate, and is a high awarded basketball player.

"Never forget the past…because it may haunt you forever. Regret all the bad things…cherish the good things. Look ahead always…but don't let the bad things from the past get in your mind." As a young child, there were so many incidents in my life that made me become the person I am today. There were rough times as well as good times. If I were to tell you all of them, I would remember half of them. I think some of my incidents really had some impact, and some were just simple ways of life. To tell you the truth, the incident that had the most impact on me has to be when my real father left me at the age of three. I never knew my father. I mean being a baby, you really have no experience or recognition of somebody else.

Role models have an astounding effect on the lives of young people in our society. A role model has the ability to shape the views, ideals, and actions of a young person. Role models help youth to discover how they wish to become in the future. The influence that role models have over young people is tremendous. It is important for role models to be positive and responsible in instilling good morals and values because future generations are directly dependent on the role models of today. By examining the influence of role models, role models in the community, and role models in the media, we will be able to determine the true effect that role models have on the lives of youth.

A role model is someone who has a significant impact in your life. When people are asked who’s their role model, of the answers would say a celebrity or an athlete, but for me the answer is my mother. There are so many great qualities about her that motivates me to be a better person. For the past seventeen years of my life, she has been there for me in every way I can possibly think of. She’s my inspiration and motivation I look for when I need it. In the future, I want to be able to be there for her just like all those times she was there for me. She has so many great characteristics I’ve personally witnessed that has shaped me into the best version of myself.

My dad is an incredible tennis player, and he takes me to play tennis every now and then. He teaches me how to play correctly instead of using my master strategy of baseball hitting balls over the fence. Again, my dad is very good at the musical arts. He does karaoke and plays guitar often while recording it for people to enjoy. Crafty is an understatement for him. He can build anything with a hammer, nails, and wood. Ok, maybe not just those things, but he built our entire basement, fixed up our house, built parts of our bathroom, and more. This inspires me to either become a doctor, or an architect, and he inspires me to play tennis in high
