If there was one aspect in my past that I could do-over, I would go to college right after High School and not set it off for so long. Right out of High School, I realized a lot of my friends weren’t going to college and we wanted to travel and experience different places. So, in order to fit in, I ended up hanging out with them and decided to not do anything with my life. I was working full time and didn’t realize the importance of an education. Also, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to go to school for and thought I had to have some sort of thought of what I wanted to be to be able to go to college. My family encouraged me to go college, but I didn’t listen and ended up hanging out more with my friends than family. I wish I would have listened
I am a girl who grew up with low income. Along with that my parents are both deaf alone with my big sister I watch after who has down syndrome. My father is no longer in my life so it’s my responsibility to take care of them. This isn’t a sob story about how awful my life sounds but how much I embrace it. Without my responsibilities I would have never grown to handle so many things I have accomplished. I was able to take college courses at Normandale Community College for free through Post Secondary Education Option (PSEO). I will also become my sister’s legal guardian this early summer. I work two jobs and try really hard to make sure I’m doing well in my classes along with making sure my family is okay. Why I am saying all this is because I feel like I
Knowledge is a very powerful thing , many people underestimate the power of education . I have never been pushed to go to college by my parents not because they did not want me to but they wanted me to wilfully look for more. My parents are both from El Salvador, a country more recently known for the highest murder rate. My parents both have been the reason why I am as driven and humbled as I am. I Enrolled at Texas Womans University ,very honestly lost , the workload and freedom given to me was too much for me to handle. I became a mother at 17 and have been blessed since but with becoming a mother I also had more work cut out for me. So after having a full scholarship I did the irrevocable and quit school. Now given the timing and circumstances I think it was the best choice at the
Greetings everyone, I'm Nordia. I've lived in Florida all my life, but recently moved to Orlando for school. This is my second year at Valencia and I am studying Philosophy, Psychology, and Political Science. My interests include diplomacy, adventures, music, growth, and that electric sky! After the upcoming Campaigns I hope to join the U.S. military and enter the field of civil affairs.
Some parents might encourage you. While others will just watch you struggle in silence. A major obstacle that I have faced is the lack of motivation coming from my family and peers, who don’t want me to further my education. My parents do not expect me to further my education, considering none of my family members have furthered their education beyond a high school diploma. Aside from these obstacles I have improved myself academically by staying away from bad influences.
Whenever the girls volleyball team runs sprints, I always scream, “I love this!” at the top of my lungs. But not everyone on the team is quite as excited as I am, so I am met with harsh stares and confused looks. Though all our bodies burn and there are a million other things I rather be doing, I constantly try to convince myself in practice that I love doing things that make my body fill with pain. I, in a sense, “fake it ‘till I make it”. But I rather call it optimism, a quality that dictates my life.
I believe that every student has the right and the ability to learn, patience and energy must be woven together to encourage the students. Due to my belief, I have the patience. My energy is fueled by my ability to see the potential in every individual with whom I cross paths with. My dream to become an educator began in sixth grade, when one teacher saw what I had to offer to the world. Along with teaching, I strive to learn as much as I can. I find great joy in acquiring new bits of knowledge. My thirst for learning is infinite. From then on, I sought out opportunities in which I could give back and inspire. I worked with the community to provide educational experiences for individuals of all ages. Going into college, I worked with my professors
Unlike most teens, I was excited to go to college and start over somewhere new. I wanted to leave behind all the drama that consumed my family; if I know one thing for sure, it’s that gossip spreads like wildfire. Getting away from that felt great because, and I know this will sound harsh, my parents have always had higher expectations of me. This is because they wanted me to be better than my siblings. My father always pushed me to do better in school, and at the age of 15 when he wanted me to get a job, I did. Family consists of the people who encourage you to do your best and follow the rules. From the very beginning they tell you what you need to do. Without caring people who have supported and guided me, I probably would not have chosen to go to Iowa for school.
When I was in seventh grade, I got my first pair of glasses. I placed them on my face and looked around. I could see birds’ wings and blades of grass. I could see the curls in clouds and the creases on a sheet. I then looked in the mirror, and was rather surprised- I found that I didn’t look how I imagined. I had more freckles than I thought. My cheekbones were higher, my face thinner. After several years of seeing myself through unassisted eyes, I had begun to have an image of myself that did not match reality.
I often daydream about things I should've done in my life , but the reality was It was not going anywhere without a much-needed college education. I took it upon myself to take charge and enroll myself in college. While growing up as a child I faced several challenges and my family often fell on hard times. However , we would recover and start over again. As I look over my life, I noticed several life experiences that have aided me along the way. I accredit my life long experiences to help guide me on the right path and future gains. Over my lifetime , I’ve learned a lot of things that direct my path to receive blessings from the Lord above. I was raised in the church and that helped me to make the right decisions along the way. I was in
My educational life has provided me with the infrastructure that your position requires. I developed myself at the point of research, self-motivation, entrepreneurship and different skills. I would like to point out that I am extremely selfless and enthusiastic about being effective and fast in my business life, and I want to be interested in the responsibility that the position requires and willing to take on my business. I am aware of that working attentively and carefully will definitely result in success. For this reason, I have no doubt that I can contribute to your abilities and work
From elementary to college, it took commitment and self-motivation not to take my past route. Difficult events in my adolescence made me respond to my frustrations through harmful activities, which I would eventually learn not to do. I lacked education as a young man, when I committed awful deeds through peer pressure. Nevertheless, the National Guard and higher education have improved my life. Many losses have happened in my life that were out of my control, which contributed to not knowing myself. However, certain better experiences taught me who I am and how to take control.
The value of education is priceless. In today’s society, that value often struggles to be realized due to a student’s ability to pay back. Applying for scholarships is one vital way students are able to pay and use their major earlier in their college career. Like many students, I will have debt coming out of college due to the high cost of education. This scholarship will help me significantly, I will have enough money to live at school and surround myself in academia. I will spend more time in the library studying, like I have been doing for the last four years. I can volunteer my free-time, applying my major to a better cause. By volunteering at a hospital, I would be able to learn and understand how to apply biochemistry to helping others.
College is an important step in life the big question is should it be necessary? College is the final step in a proper education. Though college is good it can be very expensive. The average college tuition for the state of Missouri is around $25,000 a year at the major university Mizzou. As you all know college is the last bit of education before complete graduation. But there is one question there is one big picture, should college be necessary for a job of today? College shouldn’t be necessary today for these few reasons, It can be expensive, there might not even be an opening in that profession, and that mistakes can be made while in at a university.
Education is central to my identity. My parents moved from Nigeria when I was 3 and my father knew that the only way he could get a better job was if he went back to college and get a degree in the United States. I saw how hard my parents juggled college life and work life to support us and themselves. While I have always loved learning, I have not always unable to learn as much as I wanted. In middle school, despite being a straight A student, I failed my 7th grade statewide math exam. This made me realize that I needed to extend my studies beyond the classroom, and work hard to find work that was challenging enough to allow me to grow intellectually.
I may be a young adolescent but I have experienced so many things in the short seventeen years I have been breathing. I have experienced heartbreak and even physical pain that caused the world to go dark. I have experienced much more than the average teenager. I was dealt a bad hand of cards but somehow I came out on top as a Queen. Throughout my high school years, I have learned to work with people in a way that I never thought possible. I realized in sophomore year that you can’t gain respect until you have respected. I learned to thank teachers for their time that they put into educating me for my future. Time is precious and those that taught us deserve a large amount of respect. I also learned to become organized and to use time wisely.
