School is boring. College cost too much money. Is college always the best way to a lasting career? What field of work should I go into? I don’t know what I want to do with my life. I heard vocational schools are for people with bad grades, is that true? I have heard all of this from my peers in high school. Truthfully, I have asked myself some of these same questions, especially in the last few months with high school graduation being less than 18 months away. For me, high school has been mostly enjoyable, but other times not as much. In fact, two of three students in American high schools are bored in class every single day. This statistic makes college look like a dreadful option. If high school was not great, why go to college some might think. Well, you don’t have to, but it is an option you will have to make for yourself. Deciding what to do after high school is an enormous deal because it will affect what you do for the rest of your life. You may get stressed out over that thought, but knowing your options may help you find what is best for you. Here are some options for students coming out of high school. These include college, vocational school, and working right away. The first option is college. This is the most popular option by many students. There are over 7,000 postsecondary institutions in the United States alone; almost 3,000 of them being 4-year colleges.
