"Academic integrity is the pursuit of scholarly activity in an open, honest and responsible manner. All students should act with personal integrity, respect other students' dignity, rights and property, and help create and maintain an environment in which all can succeed through the fruits of their efforts."
Qualifying for National Honors Society is a great honor and is the apotheosis of my highschool career. As a highschool student in arduous honors classes, I am faced with challenges on a daily basis that might discourage me from achieving my goals in life. Because high school can be rigorous and stressful at times, I have realized how these hindrances should be the reason for me to persevere towards greatness and to learn who I truly am. A National Honor Society member showcases leadership, service, exemplifies positive character, and an outstanding academic excellence at the same time. I believe that I display these characteristics, and would be an asset to the organization .
National Honor Society Entrance Essay The National Honor Society was established to recognize and foster excellence beyond the classroom in areas of leadership, service and character. This organization is known for sharpening social and academic skills, and producing well-rounded scholars. Therefore, I am deeply honored to be among the exemplary students chosen to be considered to represent the Cleveland Heights chapter. I believe our high school’s chapter needs ambitious student leaders who will take initiative in the community and in the classroom, while also upholding the principles and ethics of the society.
As a member of National Honors Society, I hope to contribute towards being involved and helping to improve our community both in and out of the school environment. Within school, I do my best to represent myself academically and challenge myself to new material when given the opportunity. This can be reflected by my grades and GPA, which I will continue to work on as my high school career progresses. I have always done whatever it took to keep myself in the honor roll, and have kept myself within that range ever since middle school when honor roll started to be announced. I not only represent myself academically, but I represent our school when doing activities such as sports and music. My skills are well pronounced in whatever extracurriculars
Being inducted into National Honors Society requires a student to demonstrate all of the four qualities many of our role models in the present and in the past have possessed, which include: scholarship, service, leadership and character. As I’m considered a candidate for this group, I already possess the quality of scholarship and it is my duty in this paper to show that I hold the other three important attributes needed to qualify for this institution.
As a student of The Pennsylvania State University, I have spent time observing my peers on a day to day basis. As a curious individual, I like to see how people act and what they do in and out of the classroom. I have paid close attention to the students within Schreyer’s, and I have even already taken some honors credits where I had the opportunity to work with honors students. Based on my observations, I have found the Schreyer Honors College to stand for three main things: academic achievement, leadership among peers, and community outreach. As a hardworking student, I strive to incorporate these qualities in my life. As a result, I am interested in joining Schreyer Honors College so that I may be able to have more academic, leadership,
Academic ethics are the moral codes or the shared standards of an academic enterprise and the core of its success (Occidental College, 2016). Basically, academic ethics require each student, to be honest, responsible, fair, respectful, give credit where it is due, turn in their original work, and etc. (Michigan State University, n.d.). Academic integrity requires students to do their own work without unauthorized help from others, cheating, lying, plagiarizing, and stealing (Valdosta State University, 2016). Academic integrity is important because it shows that the student is trustworthy and honest enough to do his or her own work, whether someone is looking or not. “Learning how to express original ideas, cite sources, work independently, and report results accurately and honestly are skills that carry students beyond their academic careers” (Michigan State University, n.d., para. 2).
Morals, character, integrity, what do these words mean….actually, the question is, do you have them. A man named Dwight Moody once said, “Character is what you are in the dark.” You cannot see your morals, character, or integrity, these are only shown as your values. Someone could only show their own values, which are very important to themselves and everyone else. Integrity is the firm adherence to a code of especially moral or artistic values. The way you show your integrity, character, and morals or how they are effect you in either a negative or positive way. There are many causes to how your values are. So as you know, integrity is very important and it is important to have it.
Throughout my years at Xavier and beyond I intend to follow the Xavier Honor Code so I can become a cooperative and responsible person. By being a student at Xavier I notice I will have to take responsibility of my actions and faults. In order for Xavier to trust me and to allow me to continue attending their school, I will have to follow their rules and be respectful. Not only should I do these things, but also I have to respect myself in order to respect others. In following the Honor Code at Xavier I will learn more about others, the school, and myself. The Honor Code will impact my academic and campus life because it will lead my way to the
National Honors Society students also exhibit the individual traits of sincerity, reliability, and honesty. My service experiences have made me become more sincere and genuine. My history with leadership shows that I am willing to put forth the hard effort to help make dreams comes true, not just for me but for everyone else around me. My studies have shown me that a path of honesty and truth make a person truly stand out from the rest. It separates the hard workers from the people who cut
We are presented with choices every day. Many are easy to make and cause very little stress, but some choices can be extremely difficult and have significant consequences. Dees highlights several crucial concepts regarding resilient leadership in Chapters 3 and 4. The quality of leadership largely determines the overall upward or downward direction of a company. A resilient leader has the ability to influence people to willingly put forth effort to achieve a goal, which is at the core of being a leader. The most effective leaders recognize how to influence subordinates while moving forward with an effective plan that will benefit all involved. The three most important concepts from Chapter 3 and 4 are integrity, courage, and wisdom.
Integrity is how somebody lives their life. In this life we live, we face choices every day that only we can answer. We dictate how we run our own lives, and they way we run them defines us. Integrity is doing the right thing versus the wrong thing. People, if nothing else, can always have their pride, their integrity. It is something that means a lot to some people and then nothing to others. The ones who value their integrity highly are the good people in this world, and the opposite is true for those who do not value their integrity.
