Reflection Paper Responsibilities as a member in college are the expectations of every student from college to meet their goals throughout their learning period in order to be success. Also at the same time students should meet the expectations of a larger community and society around them. Consequences of failing to those responsibilities may be vary. Students get their consequences based on what they did. Those consequences are for student to deeply recognize and be aware of their mistakes. Students need to understand the expectations of the society from them and their responsibilities within the community and what they need to do in order to be success. Some of the things that students are expected from college such as follow the rules, make good choices and be honest. Some of the things specifically for me are do my own work, get permission before I go into someone’s room, and be successful as a person etc. College expects high level of things not only from me but every student in the college. Respect among the student is an expectation of everybody within the college and also around the community. College also expects good performance since it is not only an advantage to me as a student but also to the whole college. If expectations are not met, both in the college and in the society, that means that I will meet several punishments and college will have no trust in me. One can also lose confidence from the society and family and therefore it will have big influence on them. To sum up, it is our own responsibilities to do the right things and be a good students at anytime and anywhere not just in college. The present students represent the future generation of a nation. It is therefore really important to educate students about their roles in the society, and Penn State is doing well on it. The future society will be depending on the present students and how productive and how efficient they are. The roles of students in the society are thus different from the roles of the rest of the society. Associate students with the society enables them to understand their roles and importance to the society. When one is out of college and join the rest of the society, there is no doubt that we will have different
The most important experience that has positively impacted my academic performance is being in AVID for the past 5 years. AVID is an acronym that stands for advancement via individual determination, a college preparatory class that helps prepare you for college, get organized, and set goals. I have been enrolled in AVID since 8th grade learning how to become a better student, improving study skills and the way I communicate with the students and teachers around me.
Sophomore year I was told to go to a community college for a two-year degree. By my application to Ohio University, I picked the road that everyone thought I was not capable of. Although my transcripts are not perfect, especially my GPA and ACT score the reasons are complicated. The Tuesday of my ACT week I got into a survive car accident which left me with a brain swelling concussion. I had never taken the ACT and did not want to have October be my one and only time. Therefore I took the test anyway, which led to a horrible scoring rate. Although it was not my best overall I think that for having a concussion my writing was well done. Unfortunately my car accident injuries lasted for five months, leaving me busy and injured. I again took the
This semester I have grown as a student in the area of college readiness. This has allowed me to feel more planned for college. I have gained knowledge about college and how to prepare in order to be successful. In advisory we read a “college- going 101 timeline,” which provided steps on how to get ready for college. It gave me a list of procedures I can follow throughout high school. Some procedures it gave me where to; begin keeping a folder of important information, create a list of possible colleges to apply to, and attend a college fair.
Success in college requires one to identify key aspects of personal responsibility, understand the relationship between personal responsibility and college success, and establish a specific plan to follow that will ensure he or she incorporates the various elements of personal responsibility in every facet of his or her college experience.
My time spent in the Clinical setting, so far, has been extremely inciteful as to how to become a better educator in a classroom setting. Through the data I collected I was able to connect Borich’s Seven Variables of learning to the students. By being in the clinical setting for nearly two months, I have been exposed to new ways of thinking when it comes to structuring a classroom and instructing a classroom. Within this reflection you will find out how I would better plan an effective lesson for the pupils in my future classroom. You will also discover what I will do about certain issues in the classroom and how I will address/fix them.
Although this is my second semester at Liberty University I have already completed the APOL and BIBL course which are required for my degree. As this would conclude the required Bible courses, I just hope to gain knowledge of a different aspect of the Bible. From my experience from the classes I have taken with Liberty University this far I realize that knowledge of the Bible is expected and I hope this course sets me up with more tools to complete various assignments. Through my prior courses this past summer I gained a refresher on things which I learned throughout high school and this course is something that I have actually never taken before. With it being new I just hope it brings insight into topics that are current and hopefully I
Over the last two years at the Howard Community College, I have spent truly unforgettable moments with friends and teachers at this amazing community. Initially, I came to Howard Community College to prepare myself for the 4-year university because I was not fully ready for university level academics as I am an international student from Mongolia. Specifically, English was not my strongest subject, therefore, I had to go through the step of community college in order to be ready for 4-year university. Now, I strongly believe that these two years have prepared me both academically and personally for the next chapter of my life. Furthermore, the past years have opened my eyes to a broader spectrum as I am constantly engaging with such diverse
This week has started off well. I was able to attend a college fair with the students and not only support the students in locating and speaking to colleges that they were interested in, but I was also able to network with many college admissions counselors and gather information that I can take back to other students that were unable to attend the college fair. I think that opportunities like this are important for our students because many of them are from low-income backgrounds and being out in Hawaii, think that going to a college on the mainland is out of reach. However, many of the students that attended the college fair went away feeling like there were many options for funding and that it was not out of reach for them. This type of
During my sophomore year at my high school, Black River, I took three AP classes and two courses at the local liberal arts college, Hope College. Since the year proceeded smoothly - I got a 5 on each AP exam, received a 4 on the AP Physics C exam for which I self-studied, and completed all the classes required for a minor in mathematics by Hope College - I decided to challenge myself the following year by taking six courses at Hope College and one AP class.
To start with, students must be responsible with daily tasks. Students should always arrive to class in a timely manner. Arriving on time is crucial in College. Many professors usually hand out quizzes within the first ten minutes of class. Science laboratory classes also relay essential information in the beginning of the class. Being tardy could also disrupt the flow of the class. In addition to being responsible, a student should have all necessary materials required, such as pens, highlighters, books, and test sheets, for the class readily available. Another aspect of being responsible is reading ahead of time even if it is just skimming through the chapters. By doing this, students will have an idea of what the topic of the class is going to cover. Given these points, a responsible student will always try to have the upper hand in order to success in
When I started researching Union University, I knew it was a special place. Schools with a seamless integration of Christian faith and academic rigor are few and far between, but I recognized Union as an institution that did. The core values of Union University clearly reflect this integration, and I am confident my time as a student would shape me into a highly competent and devoted Christian nurse.
Desiring to have a better life in future inclines people to focus on their academic career. Schools, exams, busy schedules and a pile of work are quintessential this goal. Therefore, students who want to achieve a better future prefer undergoing hard work instead of engaging in social activities. However, social sides of college do not only occupy a big role, but also has plenty of benefits. Social life in college becoming increasingly essential in today’s world triggered an acceptable consideration: Social parts of college should be considered as equal as the academic parts because of psychological, social reasons and its benefits in terms of future.
Over the past year Ithaca College has given me many tools to help me succeed after I leave South Hill. I learned how to manage having five different professors who all have unique expectations of me as a student. Every night I would mentally run through the next day and think what each professor wanted from me. I often had to prioritize assignments by doing what was due the soonest. Having relationships with my professors was important to me and taught me how to have professional relationships with people. The little things like addressing someone who I don’t know, proper email format, and how to shake a hand were all valuable lessons I learned dealing with so many different professors. I have struggled with some professors at Ithaca
What does today’s society expect from students? A question that can either end with a positive or negative answer. With any kind of education there comes responsibility, commitment, and consequences. As a student, one must develop qualities in him or her to enable him or her to lead a successful life. The older one gets the higher people’s expectations seem to be. Many of the expectations set for students may be the same, but the repercussions of the actions one choses to take are what differs the most.
As the semester started, I had set my mind that I was destined to achieve a lot. During the start of the semester, I had several difficulties writing English assignments especially in terms of grammar. During the first week of the semester, I sat down, organized my thoughts and comprehended that throughout the semester, I had to achieve all that I had planned for. As a student of English, I had planned that throughout the semester, I had to improve my skills as a scholar, writer and critical thinker. Now that the semester has ended, I can reflect all the semester activities to depict how my writing skills and critical thinking skills have drastically improved. This paper presents a reflection paper of how this
