Coming to college as an adult, we have many expectations and preconceptions of what college will or will not be. The expectations we have can influence our college life for the better or the worse. My experience since starting college has been an interesting one. People have misconceptions about college because they do not know what to expect. After doing some research, I have concluded that there are three major factors that are often misunderstood about college life. The first is the financial aspect of college. Second, is the relationship between the professors and students. Third is time management. These three factors play an important role in why people are afraid to go down the path to college.
Scenario 1: “Wow, that was an easy midterm. I guess I am too good for university… I’ll just party for the next few weeks and cram closer to exam time.” Scenario 2: “That midterm was awful. I guess this subject isn’t meant for me… there is no point in trying for the final exam. It will be a waste of time.”

There is a certain criteria which a college must meet in order for me to feel that a truly beneficial education can be gained from it, and with the costs that go into college it is highly important that this criteria be met. My first choice school would have definitely met my personal requirements, but in the event that admission to this college was not granted to me my previously used checklist would be applied to my three options in order to determine the best school for me.
There is one simple answer to what being successful in school truly means to me. To be successful, I would have to gain as much knowledge and skills that I can to be able to utilize it in my future endeavors. I want to be able to show my brains in a non-letter form. If I was to barely pass all of my classes but have obtained all of the intellect necessary, I would feel extremely proud of the four years spent in secondary education. No employer looks at the exact letter grades you held. They look for skill, determination, and brilliance. College is nothing like high school for the reason that in high school you can memorize numbers, phrases, or the answers, quickly take the test while
The whole educational and career planning process has been quite the challenge. One factor that I was completely sure of though, was that I wanted to be doing something important. Something that I personally felt like I would be remembered while also giving back to the community in which I live. With that in mind however, it not only takes one’s talents that are depended on but the experience needed when selecting a career path. Out of the many careers that one can select, I had to pick an admirable career where I would not only make a decent living for myself and my children, but also undertaking something that I would enjoy doing.
This semester has flew by a lot faster than I anticipated. The akron experience has taught me quite a bit that has helped me in many different areas. Being successful in college to me means to organize and manage all the parts of your life so that you are content. College is alot to keep track of and managing this and the rest of your life is the main thing that will keep you going so you are able to take breaks. Without breaks you will get burned out and I learned this pretty fast. I would say I was successful this semester even if my grades weren't exactly where I wanted them I am getting the feel for the whole experience.
Being successful in college is not as difficult as some people think it is. With the proper preparation and observation, the student can be well-organized weeks ahead of when their classes will be scheduled to start. Not everyone is considered a highly organized individual and sometimes unexpected things happen to us all. It is important to keep a positive attitude, research, and speak with your instructors and various other staff members when needed in order to solve a dilemma. It all boils down to what the problem you are facing is. For myself, my EOPS appointment had been four days before classes were supposed to start and after taking a one-hour bus ride to the college about thirty minutes before my appointment was scheduled my phone rang.
Beginning college is like being reborn into the world. You begin your first day with a blank slate, and a thousand fears to go with it. Last year, I started my new life at Saginaw Valley State University. As a fresh graduate of New Lothrop High School, I had no idea what to expect from the world past the cornfields that used to surround me everyday at school. With a deep breath, I gathered everything I learned from my time at New Lothrop and jumped into my new world. My past lessons of leadership, responsibility and dedication prepared me for college, but I still have many more to learn.
In order to be successful in college, I know I will need to overcome several challenges. The first challenge is financial issues. After I quit my job, my family depends on one income from my husband. We are struggling since we have many bills to pay as a house payment, car payment, living costs and others. For example, I started college, I have to live on a saving budget so I can save money for my school fee. Another challenge is the TV and the Internet distractions. I have a bad habit of turning the TV on when I am at home, even I do not watch or while I am cleaning my house. I cannot pay full attention to studying with the noise and distraction in the background. This distracts me all the time with what they are playing on the TV. For example,
Being successful in college is a journey and an experience, not a struggle. It is the grand experiment of our lives as we determine not only how to be successful in college but what it means to us individually. For some making connections and preparing for life afterward is the main determinant of success. For others its good grades. For me its taking away everything that there was available and then some. Success for is determined to be graduating without school loans, excellent grades and finding the proper strings to pull. To do this shall be a feat in and of itself, however, I knew this already and came expectant. First of all, finances are of ultimate importance as I need to ensure that I never end up with debt. To do this I need to maintain
I know that college will be difficult for me because of time management, lack of support, and the challenging classes. I am a mother of seven children, and six grandchildren whom I have devoted my life to for many years. Now it is time for me to shine. Managing time is very hard for me because it takes up most of the day. I have to car pool my daughter to basketball games, and take my son back and forth to work. My husband also demands my attention and help, because he is older now and cannot do a lot of things on his own. He comes home from work at night and expects dinner to magically appear on the table and house work to automatically be done. Finally once everything is done, it is then eight already and I still have to get the things left that I need to do before school like finish homework, study for tests, and then have myself in bed before eleven. In order to become a successful college student I will have to overcome my challenges. I would like to finish college and major in nursing which is my number 1 goal in life.

Countless people have often researched the reason why students or people generally need the use of education and how it changes their ways of seeing objects in the real world. It doesn’t change the fact that, kids in all over the world they should have a place in education and work hard so that they can improve while understanding what they need to do without struggling or act in a rude way that most people see kids or students as.
