Los Angeles County Museum of Art The museum that I visited was the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in Los Angeles. When I first got to the museum, the first thing that caught my eye was the Urban Lights sculpture built in 2008 outside, by Chris Burden. The sculpture has two-hundred and two restored cast iron antique street lamps. The sculpture was painted in white and the actual size was 320 ½ x 686 ½ x 704 ½ inches. Also the whole building had remarkable architectural features. As you walk from room to room, there was a guard in each room. The atmosphere of the museum was very pleasant and comforting. In addition, this painting includes a lot of texture. This painting is well done, that you can see that there is a lot of texture in the dress, the rocks, the trees and grass, and the water from the spring. Also the scenery is so realistic, that it feels as if you are in the painting and you can actually touch the leaves on the tree, the water from the spring, the baby angles, and the rocks. Furthermore, this artwork also has rhythm, a sense of continuance and a feeling of movement by the colors and the diagonal position of the bodies. There are many aspects that makes this artwork well balance. One is that there is balance between light to dark. For example, the figures are lighter than the background. Secondly, there is a good balance between large and small objects. The large and small objects are well spread out throughout this artwork. And lastly, there is a good color balance throughout the painting. Finally, the whole artwork has unity. All the elements come together and become one great art piece. The elements of nature, the people, and the three muse are all different elements that are put together and create a great work of art. In the end, this piece of artwork is part of a fantasy and it is calming as well. The reason for choosing this piece of artwork was because of its relaxing colors, calming landscape, angelic surroundings. My overall museum experience was great and it was very people friendly.
