People say that coming to the United State would be a dream come true. I was born on September 21, 1998 in Thailand. I thought coming to America, my life will change to better rather than working so hard everyday and night at the farm to get just enough rice for the family. Even in the United State, my parent’s had to starve just so we can eat.
Bullying has been a part of my life. My whole family was a target. Because they were born in the United State, they look at us like we don’t belong there. It was surprising that even Hmong peoples didn’t welcome us. At our first apartment older kids would hit my brother and sister with a stick. Even when we moved to Anchorage, the bullying didn’t stop. We still didn’t know that great english and a new group of people were upset with our arrival. They would flated ours car tired, broke the car window, and throw rock at

It was a struggle to make my parents proud. I thought that my bullying life have been over but it wasn’t. Everyday at school, I would get insulted for what I do. By playing sport, Hmong guys considered me as a guy instead of a girl and treated me differently telling me I shouldn’t play and act more like girl. Because I joined sports, my own race are ashamed of me. Not only do they insulted me, they call me names. They hated me for who I am and what I do. Because I joined sport, I usually brag about how good I am. Hmong people do not get along with this type of topics, so they would make rumors of something that does not exist. Not only do I get stereotyped by my own people, I also get bullied because I do something different than what we have to do in our culture. Climbing my way through success, I went through brick and stone. I proved to myself that I could overcome anything. By ignoring the bullies, I found ways to focus on other things. At last, by becoming the top 10 percent students in school, I have received 12,000 dollar Alaska Scholar that have made my parent
The United States of America has millions of illegal and legal immigrants more than people that born in the country. Our country has received many immigrants since 1600s with the pilgrims and continued in the time of industrialization. Many of those immigrants were searching religious freedom and better opportunities. But they faced racial discrimination, low pay rate, and didn’t have opportunities to find better jobs. Now in our times, people still immigrate illegal and legal in our country. They are people just like us and they need to be treated right and fair. The United States should help illegal immigrants to have the same and equal rights that citizens and shouldn’t be punished for where country they come from.
My story starts in the year of 2003, when I decided to follow up on my
I walked around unsteadily all day like a lost baby, far away from its pack. Surrounded by unfamiliar territory and uncomfortable weather, I tried to search for any signs of similarities with my previous country. I roamed around from place to place and moved along with the day, wanting to just get away and go back home. This was my first day in the United States of America.
The United States is known as “the land of opportunities and hope” but it does not always offer what it portrays. Undocumented immigrants who come to the U.S. in search of “the American dream” have faced many injustices in this country, a country which claims to be free and fair. Undocumented immigrants are everywhere; however, not all immigrants are bad or trying to hurt others. In the United States, especially in California, Mexicans are the targeted group when it comes to politics and other important government issues. Mexicans are seen as invaders who are constantly killing and raping, but in reality this is not true. There are some Mexicans who kill and rape, yet there are also Mexicans who come to the U.S. to work and provide for their family.
Before lands were set up into fixed colonies, people were free to roam and sail as they pleased. However, this is not to say that discrimination did not exist, and some were killed when they entered into foreign borders. The same holds true today in the United States of America, not necessarily due to discrimination but due to the immigration laws that were put into practice in 1790, beginning with the Naturalization Act. While it is safe precaution to make sure who enters the country and what their motives are, many are being denied the access to the American dream. It is because of this that the U.S. must take a step back and reevaluate their immigration policies.
“The land of the free and the home of the brave” these are people's first thoughts when they think about coming to America. Many come to america to make their dreams a reality or for many reasons as to have a better life for their kids, or the generation that come. Like the colonial immigrants, the 1800s immigrants, and the modern immigrant. All of them have reasons why they came to america or persuade their dreams. How they look at america they all have a way of looking at america different but they all have a dream in america. What is really most people dream in America?
The voyage to America for the servants was a horrible journey. Servants were packed in boats with little to no space. An individual would be given 2 feet width and 6 feet length to sleep in, but boats were usually overloaded with hundreds of servants including tools, provision and other items that took up space. Packed in space, fewer boats servants were carried to England from Holland. This journey usually took two to four weeks depending on the winds. If winds were good, the journey would take eight days or sooner to arrive. Servants were allowed to take their money, but were forced to waste it all to purchase goods but they still ended starving.
Beginning with the ones who established the first successful permanent settlement in 1607. The U.S is a magnet for those looking to increase their economic prospects regardless of their roots. Immigration has shaped the demography of Americans since colonial times. Immigration is an important issue the country faces today; misunderstandings persist about essential aspects of this crucial topic such as the size and composition of the immigrant population, and how immigration affects the economy and the workforce in the U.S.
The Europeans visiting the America’s was the best foot forward. There are a couple downfalls to such a successful voyage. The downfalls were disease and warfare. The successful things do outweigh the bad. Without the European exploration we would not be here right now. Spain, England and France all contribution to exploration of North America.
Any citizen of a foreign country who wishes to enter the United States must obtain a visa. Visa applications can be a complicated process, and any individual seeking to enter the U.S. to visit, work, or go to school in the Lone Star State should consult with an experienced immigration attorney in Dallas TX. The consular officers in charge of granting and denying visa applications often have significant discretion, and completing the forms and incorrectly or missing out on certain information can hurt the applicant's chances of obtaining a visa. Although applicants can reapply, reapplications take up extra time and money.
Everyone has to experience an important stage, which create significant changes in his life. I am not an exception. When I am 16 years old, I made one of the most important decision of my life, when I decided to take part in an exchange program and live far away from my family for nearly a year. Although the program have not finished yet, I had a lot of memorable moments in America, and the first day at my school is one of them.
Why do you want to travel to the country you have selected for your summer exchange experience?
When I was 6 years old my parent started fighting so they separated, this caused me to have to move schools. I didn’t fit in at all because they all were a bunch of farm boy and girls and I came from the city. They bullied me because I was different. I wore clean new sneakers, they wore old dirty cowboy boots, or they would go hunting and get a big deer when I hadn’t been hunting a day in my life. I Spend my first four years at northridge worrying about school and less about the bullies but the older I got the worse they got.
Bullying has been an issue for people since the very first nations started fighting each other in order to establish a hierarchy of the strong and servants of the weak, but today bullying has changed and evolved. Today there are a multitude of tactics that bullying can be done, such as physical, teasing, cyber, and psychological, which makes it easier for the bully and harder on the victim. But why is this a bigger issue now than in the past? It is because children now have improper ways of handling bullying. They start to look for other solutions to solve it other than trying to themselves even when it is a small dispute. Although, bullying isn’t just minors situations, it can grow to very dangerous for a victim. Once a child feels bullied or upsetted by another, whether it is actual bullying or not, cause problems and changes everything around them and for everyone. The proper tactic to discover if a child is really being seriously bullied or is handling it improperly can be discovered by looking at the definition and types of bullying, the way adults and children handle it, to look at the similarities and differences from a generation ago, and to pinpoint the actual problem of bullying.
This year, I went on a 3-week voyage to China and returned to America with plenty of new knowledge. The following story describes it in detail.
