Virgin Australia which was formerly called Virgin Blue is the Australia’s second largest airline. The airline was started in 2000 by British business tycoon Sir Richard Branson and former Virgin Blue CEO Brett Godfrey. The airlines started as low-cost carrier, but went on to become a “new-world carrier” (Virgin Blue media release, 2011). This low cost airline went on to become a full-service airline by 2012 with the name of Virgin Australia. The company tends to use pull strategy by creating a fresh and refurbished brand image so that the customer is coaxed to seek out the services offered by the brand(Appendix A). The company has an active social media presence which helps it to stay in touch with current customers and offer a window of experience to its new customers.(Appendix B) The company is actively present on facebook with the name of Virgin Australia, twitter, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn and the like(Appendix D). The customers can lodge complaints, find feedback forms; share their views through these websites. The idea behind the whole thing is to create positive social communities.

1.2 Message Effectiveness Critique
The new advertisement of Virgin Australia has been appreciated and well accepted among its target audience. Comments have been posted on Australian Business Traveller where about 46% of the respondents think that it’s a fantastic commercial which certainly attracts them towards the airline. Blogs have also been posted which discuss the journey of Virgin Blue to Virgin Australia. Also, they portray and analyze the new image and positioning of the brand. Virgin Australia has 36651 likes on facebook and an active interaction amongst consumers and Virgin Australia (Virgin Australia, Facebook, 2014). There are other apps useful to the active consumer and can be downloaded with the help of an android phone.
