Self esteem or self worth is defined as, “Your assessment of your worth or value reflected in your perception of such things as your skills, abilities, talents, and appearance” (Beebe, 40). Communication enhances self-esteem because effectively conveying a message in the adequate intended manner can help boost self worth. When one can effectively communicate, one then can reach a conscious decision that they have made a positive impact by reflecting on how their communication was perceived and if it reached the intended goal. This usually allows for similar situations in the future to have better communication outcomes. The anticipatory step is the step that I need to implement more into my communication process. For example, going into a argument I never think why the other person might be upset, I just assume their circumstances. This results in unfair assessment of the situation, which results in ineffective commutation because every person does not know the same underlying information.

Communication is inescapable meaning society always uses and always will need communication to advance. Society will always be advancing so will communication models and ways of communicating.
Communication is irreversible meaning anything you say cannot be taken back. That is almost true in any situation, but in todays technology anything you post or send is forever out there forever.
Communication is complicated meaning communication is not an easy idea or notion to capture. If communication was simple then the world would be a peaceful place, but different ideas, languages, and cultures are going to conflict communication and make it complex.
Communication emphasizes content and relationships meaning how you say something can mean more than what you say. Your engagement and tone can portray a lot during the communication model.
Communication is governed by rules meaning that there are general accepted rules in communication.
