In a group, communication is a key element that contributes to the success of the group. Without communication between group members, the tasks will not be fulfilled. This is why communication was an important aspect in our team.
There were several forms of communication used throughout our project. Some included communicating in person as well as communicating after class. However, when we began to work on the interview portion of the assignment, we were all very busy and could no longer meet face-to-face. This is when we decided to keep in touch through technology for future references. We did so by communicating through an app called Groupme. By utilizing this app, we were able to control, organize, and plan for all of the tasks required.
Another form of communication that we used during this time was Google Docs. Google Docs allowed us to examine, edit, and comment on each other’s assigned portion of the assignment. It was extremely convenient and effortless to use. This is how we conclusively agreed on the final submission of assignment.Overall, the communication within our team was efficient and successful.
II. Group Decision Making:
In our group, we wanted to make sure everyone’s ideas and opinions were acknowledged. Since there were five group members, we were able to avoid dilemmas because all of the decisions were based on majority rule. In the case of a group member not being present during discussion hours, the group leader would then make the final

Communication is a two-way process that takes practice and time to be fully effective and is very important in every aspect our personal and professional lives. We communicate every day of our lives both verbally or nonverbally. The process of verbal communication is the exchanging information by transmitting an idea, send that idea, receive feedback, understand the idea and the feedback and provide feedback to the person who sent the message. The main components of communication are context, encoder, message, medium, decoder, and feedback. The context could be social, chronological, cultural, or physical. It is essential that there is effective communication to build an effective team. Effective teams need to work well together and that team cohesiveness depends on building strong relationships among team members. Communication is crucial and is driven by the team leader who will work with the team to establish ground rules and work to bring the team together so that it can accomplish its goals. All teams will go through expected stages of development, from forming to storming to norming and eventually performing according to Tuckman. Navigating through these stages effectively will help teams build relationships which in turn improves communication. Effective team communication can lead to both personal and professional development. Some examples of good communication are the holding of regular catch up meetings, active listening (by management and team members), regular feedback, clear vision and goals. In contrast to the above poor communication skills can have an adverse effect on team working. If team members are not communicating amongst themselves then
Group communication follows slightly different ‘rules’ to communication in one-to-one situations. There is often more going on in a group, with a number of different people trying to speak, get their point across and their voice heard. Turn-taking can be more complicated; relationships and power issues between group members can also be more complex than in one-to-one contexts. As a communication context, groups can have a number of benefits for participants: • a group can be an effective way of sharing responsibilities • groups can improve decision-making and problem-solving because they draw on the knowledge and skills of a number of
Group communication is getting a small group of people together who share the same problem to talk about it. These work better when the group is small as the leader can interact better than working with a large group. In health care, group communication can range from AA meetings (Alcohol anonymous) to drug abuse to various phobias which people want to overcome. There are a number of factors we need to consider when working with a group, things such as group atmosphere, group leaders, thinking about what you are going to say, taking turns and the use of space.
I have gained a lot experience with coding through a combination of the group code conversion and online courses in JavaScript, HTML and CSS, and jQuery. The coding conversion has been a rewarding project, because it has allowed me to see examples of how coding is used in the work environment, which isn’t always discussed in the classroom environment. Over the course of my internship, I have also become more familiar with office procedures including: communicating with others through Outlook, daily Huddle meetings, and the overall importance of communication. Before this internship, email was just a way for me to get information from professors and peers, but now it is a tool to organize and communicate with others quickly and effectively. Huddle meetings were new to me, but I quickly understood the importance of keeping others up to date on my current progress. The Huddle meetings became a way for problems to be addressed quickly and it allowed for the group to come up with a unified solution to problems. Of the lessons learned this summer, the most crucial is that communication is critical. Without it, peers don’t know where you are or where you are going. Communication allows for others to know if there are problems present and it gives them a way to provide
Our main method of communication was email. Email was used to constantly keep each other up on what we needed to do and the progress that we had made up to that point. However, we did have one group meeting outside of class that was absolutely vital to our success. Although we did a lot of work individually given our various schedules. It was at our meeting where we created the A/V together, as well as talked about the transitions that we wanted to make. This really helped us to pull our research together to create a single
All members agree to communicate via text message for small details like date and times of meetings, and to notify when emails have been sent. Any document will be communicated through the school email or personal email.
When doing so the other group members were active listener, by using their whole body verbally and nonverbal. Like facing the speaker and giving eye contact and try to avoided interruption. The group also acknowledges the thoughts of the speaker by giving constructive feed back. Due to the effectiveness of the group communication, we were able to build trust, respect and understand the issues and make decision for effective change. We illustrate this by coming together as a group one again to accomplish the goal we initially wanted to accomplish. Since the first organization that we had chosen was incorrect, so we had to make the necessary changes to accomplish our goals. The other effective feature is the purpose of the group. Kozier et al (2010) stated that the effective group purpose is when “goal, task, and outcomes are clarified. Understanding and modified so that members of the group can commit themselves to purposes through cooperation” (p.401). For instance, each individual was assign a task and knew what was to be accomplished. As group we all decided to meet at suitable day and time which was beneficial to all team members, because we could commit to the group and focus on what needed to be achieved.
Communication is a crucial part of any team, group, or family. I think the best way to communicate is being clear and precise as well proactive. This could be applied in multiple aspects like in person or over written message. I currently make the calendar for my sorority which has multiple moving parts. This requires communication with those who have events for the calendar as well as our headquarters. I like to clearly inform everyone the guidelines we have to follow as well as my thoughts. Being proactive is important to communication as well. I inform and remind everyone involved of when the meetings are and what steps we need to take to continue as successful agenda.
Communication: The group will communicate through three-way phone calls, the group discussion board, text message and email to coordinate assignments. All external matters will be discussed in-depth within the group and the outcome communicated by Leigha Hughes. Leigha has been selected to speak on behalf of the group and represent the group to outside agencies.
