In the article “Two Years Are Better Than Four” author Liz Addison writes about how community college is a forgotten option for many students in America, and that it is not well advertised like the universities are. She writes about how community college is a great option for students who need a less expensive option, but still want a chance to further their education. Addison also writes about how they allow everyone to attend so you can “just begin”. Community college is a great option for many students because it allows for an affordable option for students to continue their education.

Someone wanting to attend a university might think that because Yale is such an expensive school it would be more beneficial to go there. Although the price difference between community colleges and ivy league universities are drastically different, the schools themselves are more similar than expected. First of all, both types of schools offer a wide range of classes for all student. Second, both community colleges and ivy league universities offer financial aid to students and families who struggle with the cost. Thirdly, they are also alike in that students who attend each school receive similar availability in the sports their schools offer. Although these two places of education are extremely, different they are more alike than one would commonly think.

There are three main reasons why I agree Community College is the best choice. The cost of a Community college, and the cost of a University, to class sizes that could fit between 15-20 students, and the convenience that each school has for their students, and teachers. Although both, universities and community colleges serve the same purpose, the two are very different from each other. For instance, you might be an upcoming freshmen, and not sure whether in picking a 2- year college or a 4- year college. Choices could be, where you can pick a two- year college, but may not be able to experience a life you cannot have at a university. A school closer to home allows you to stay home and cut your bills another way by eliminating room and board fees and transportation expenses. Deciding whether to attend a community college or university can be a difficult decision for students especially high school seniors and fresh high school graduates. After graduating from high school, the next step in the academic journey is to attend a college or a university. Before I got into college, I wanted to attend a university. I never considered attending a community college because I considered it irrelevant and less rewarding than a university. Now I have a different view about community colleges and I can clearly point out the major difference between a community college and a university. A community college is a two year college which offers two or three year courses and award associate degrees and certificates. Most community colleges are linked with certain universities which makes it easier for students to transfer. My decision to attend a community was strongly influenced by Cost, easy transition to university, and the need to balance school, work, and social life.

All colleges have great advantages and disadvantages to offer to each future student to better their education. Before, I did not know anything about community college, even I didn’t know there are community colleges in each community in United States. In other countries as far as I know, there are only Universities. I heard about community college from one of my friends when I was looking for what I should do for further education, after moving to United States. After that I started looking for what courses and what certificates community college offers.

A very important part of life is education. In order to acquire a satisfying education, one should complete high school prior to college. College and high school have two different levels of education, but both are trying to further student’s knowledge. As recent high school graduates and college freshman’s many can clarify similarities and differences between the two. Some obvious similarities are that both have assignments, classrooms, and students. Although college and high school have many differences three of the main ones are the teachers, classes, and responsibilities.

Colleges and universities are largely the same and contain very few differences. How a student will choose a school will depend on what criterion will they hold. If they wish to stay in one place throughout their post-secondary education, are not that concerned with tuition, and/ or love social aspects of the “college experience”, a university may be the best bet. If a student is not concerned with moving from school to school, holds what they pay in high esteem, and/or is not too concerned with socialization, a college may be the best fit. There may also be a compromise, where someone gets an under-graduate degree from a college, and decides to further their education at a university. Regardless of where someone decides to take their education past high school, it is still a win for our country and our global society. College and university have an academic equal in the school. They had more hours than high school. They have professor in both schools. They have a marked improvement in financial aid. People want to take interesting school; but, they have different programs. Community colleges focus on 2-year and year certificate programs. University have a bachelor’s degree and take 4-years to complete school.

I am young, almost broke, and attending college. High school and college are different yet similar in some ways. Without a high school or college diploma, you can’t get a job. To me, high school seems to be a free trail that lasts for four years. A way to find what you would like to do in life. College, on the other hand, is like finding what you want to do and paying for classes in order to reach your dreams and paying for classes that have nothing to do with what you would like to do in life. College is nothing like I imagined it to be. But because of the things I have experience in high school it makes me want to be more successful and gives me that drive to do better.
