For my service hours I helped around my school and my old school, Saint Barnabas Elementary School. I helped the high school with all the open houses, Freshman Fun night, and the Spring show. I helped the Elementary School with the after school program and I even helped the school with book sorting for the book fair. I did these for my service hours because it's important to help the school you go to and the Elementary School that prepared you for high school. Community Service is important because it teaches me how to be a better person and it brings people together. When I worked at Open House ad Afterschool i connected with a lot of people ad made friendships through them.
I would definitely do the service hours I did this year
People may think of service as being in a war or being part of our government. While these are very high positions of service there are also many small ways service can make an impact. Some of the service activities I have been included in are: Singing at a senior center, participating in Girl Scouts, adopting and caring for a humane society dog, donating clothes or toys to goodwill, and biking/walking places to save gas. Service is very important to me because it really helps me visualize the difference you can make by doing several small acts of kindness.
I serve at my church by helping the kids learn more about their religion and I occasionally help at the food bank. Also, every Wednesday I help babysit my baby cousin Olivia. But, the main reason I give service is to learn more about life and people. I also give service because it brings joy to my heart.
During my four hours of community service, I did many things such as mowing grass, throw wastes into the dumpster by driving a tractor, and clean the sidewalk by using a wind blower. To other people, it may seem like that there are just light duty work, but to me every work done will make the community look better no matter how light
For my community service, I have been going to Lyndon B. Johnson Head Start Program, or LBJ. At LBJ, it is my responsibility to look after children and clean up after them. The teachers there set up many activities for the kids to work on, most of the time they finger paint. The teachers also set up small field trips. For example, we once went on a field trip to a house that had set up a pumpkin patch and many other activities for the kids. The house we went to wasn’t very far from LBJ. The children had so much fun choosing a pumpkin and playing different games, and I had fun helping them and taking care of them.
Service in the school and community is an insight to your character and work ethic. I have over 20 hours of community service from many different experiences. Last summer I worked for Camp Barakel, a summer camp, in the kitchen. I assisted in serving food and cleaning. I learned discipline and teamwork through this valuable experience. Not only this I’ve worked with the Elderly in Rehabilitation centers and the patience and nurturing qualities is something that will forever be valuable in my life. Last but not least working as Big Sister or Buddy to a 4th grade girl has given me the chance to positively impact and influence her life as simply as having a friend is immense. All of these service opportunities as added to my character and prepared me for the responsibilities of
Serving not only benefits the recipient, but also the volunteer. One area I feel passionate about is blood donation. It makes me feel satisfied to know that my blood can go to save a stranger's life. Another place I serve in is in my church. I have helped with Vacation Bible School, a mission trip, and cleaning up after events. These projects took a lot of time out of my already busy schedule, but when I look back and see all those who have benefited from my service, I have no regrets.
I am immersed in many community services with my school. Every Martin Luther King Jr. Day, my school comes together to assist those in need. It is a day devoted to helping others by constructing boxes of necessary materials to send to sick nuns at Camilla Hall. One evening during the year the school community comes together for a night dedicated to community service. Each grade occupies themselves in diverse ways to help those who are in need. Some classes help by making tuna fish casseroles, and others cut jeans to make shoes for the needy in Africa. There is nothing I love more than helping those in need with my school
Depending on where you live, community service is different for everyone. But despite where your community is, there is always a way to help out and contribute. Community service is a way to show that you as a citizen, are grateful to live in a community that supports you and you would like to keep that tradition going in the town. Community doesn’t have to be a thing to get into a good school. It should be something to do out of respect for your family and the people that you care about around
The community service project I am most proud of is my senior project. I planned and ran a youth baseball clinic. I am most proud of this because I had a chance to work with kids who reminded me of my younger self. It was great to reconnect with why I love the game of baseball while helping someone younger with their baseball skills. Another program I’ve been involved in is the Ashland Football programs, Rent-A-Player program. Rent-A-Player is a service for people who live in Ashland that need help doing miscellaneous jobs. I was hired a handful of times, and it connected me with many Ashland residents. I have also been involved with many other community service opportunities. Throughout my last four years this has helped me connect with
It wasn't until I began my work I learned how service is not only about you giving to others but what you take out of it. We are always taught to live as Jesus and serve the community but people make it out to be hard work. I would not be able to give up everything to do service but I would love to help out different communities because It was actually fun. We are taught we should get paid for our work and therefore makes service seem not worth the time but it is truly a gift for everyone. The time I spent in the after school program helped me understand myself and even though we are tiny in this world our impact on other can be massive. I feel with more time and service I would be able to see myself through others but in the short time we did have I didn't fully understand who I am. Helping out those kids with such little things showed me that I'm not as unimportant as I think I am. The way the kids greeted me made me seem as if I was more than just someone else that was born to just live out my life. It gave me insight on how I can leave an impact even if it is just twenty kids. I learned through them that I have a strong connection with children. After my first day of service they all knew my name and wanted to be with me. Most of the kids couldn't even remember my others friend’s name and so it made me feel special and if I was actually helping them. I am also relived
Community service builds character and establishes selflessness and diligence and gives students the building blocks for a better future. It helps students become more prepared and helps them down the road for what life has in store.
Community service has always been something that I was interested in. I love helping out when I can, and especially when it is necessary. I knew that I had to do hours of community service for my freshman year of high school as a project. I also knew I wanted to do the Boo Bash for my community service. I babysat a lot in the summer and enjoyed volunteering when I did. Community service should be done by everyone everywhere so they can help out their communities and I was very excited to perform more hours of community service.
Community service does not require you to cure cancer, or creating a huge organization that funds diabetes research, but can instead be little things. While I know in the great aspect of the world and life I did not to a humongous deed of goodwill, but it made me feel completed and good about myself helping out the little girls and making a bowl, which I why more people should help out around the community. Who knows where we could get if everyone picked up teach once a week, or made a $10 donation to a
Some of the service I have done at Fairfield High School is tutoring students, working the concessions during home games, and managing for the boys’ basketball team. I have found great joy in all of the service activities I have done at the school. Even if it were waking up an hour or two earlier than usual to go to a highway cleanup, or going around the town to pick up trash.
Community service affected my life in a big way. While volunteering, I learned to be more open minded, learned more social skills and it taught me to have fun. When I was younger I did some volunteering, but by doing more I learned that being more open minded was good. For example, I wouldn’t think as much as what it would feel like to be all alone, but when I volunteered at the Elderly Hall and was told that the people who lived there didn’t get that much visitors from their families, it was sad to hear. I thought to myself on why, I haven’t thought about it, being alone on the holidays would be bad. So when I finished helping out, I told myself to think about how others would feel. It felt good to spend time with the elderly's over the holiday,
