Company Background

Karib Cable St. Lucia Limited started operations in St. Lucia in 2007, already having similar operations in St. Vincent, Karib Cable (hereinafter called KC) sought to expand its operation and solidify itself as a major provider of cable TV and broadband Internet access in the Eastern Caribbean (Karib Cable | Kelcom International 2014).

The Karib Cable organization (operating in St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Barbados and Antigua) was recently purchased by Columbus Communications Limited – already a mega player in the region. Columbus is a privately held, Barbados-based international business corporation having been incorporated in 2004. It provides a range of cable, data, broadband and IP services throughout forty-two countries in the greater Caribbean, Central American and Andean region (Columbus Communications Inc. 2014).

In St. Lucia, Karib Cable (now wholly owned by Columbus) employs one hundred and six staff; has four retail locations and continues to hold on to the legacy brand. There are efforts to transition completely to Columbus branding in the medium term (Columbus Communications 2014).

Project Research Problem
The problem of insufficient strategic leadership development has resulted in several substantial complications within the KC. For the seven years of its operation in St. Lucia, KC largely focused on plant and systems development and maintenance.
