While at Sussex County Community College I was able to take some classes that really helped gain more of a healthy understanding of culture around the world to give me a more rounded sense on how the rest of the world lives. A great class in gaining knowledge on world culture from a historic point while progressing to more modern present day was Comparative Religions PHIL 201 instructed by Professor MacDougall. During this Course we were required to turn in a paper on a countries religion along with there Culture and life style. Professor MacDougall gave us the freedom to choose the religion and country that interested us the most. For it was a no brainer to choose Morocco and its Muslim Culture, the main reason I choose Morocco …show more content…
This article helped bridge of French influence I notice while I was there, some of these French items were very fine French bread, pastries and the best coffee I have ever had in my entire life. I was able to learn that one of the main reasons for them having some French culture was that it they were ruled by the France up tell 1956 and most of there government and business is done in the French language even though most of the common men in the country only speak Arabic. They also consume foods that you almost never see or eat in the United States like Camel. To compare and contrast in Maranon culture they stop around noon for generally 2 hour or more to pray and have a mid day meal, differing from here in American were most of us get a half hour lunch just to go get some junk food really fast, they generally seem like they live in a slower pace life. Since Morocco is a Muslim nation they do not consume alcohol, however they loved to sit down and have a Coke with an American showing that they share some American …show more content…
When the King inherits his power he is King of Macao for life, he can never be impeached or replaced. The King even has the power to change the time of day if he wants to do something earlier or later on in the day, something that could just not happen in the United States, experienced this personally. The infrastructure of the Moroccan was very old and primitive yet functional outside of the main cities the people were mostly involved in agriculture with many people close to the shore involved in the commercial fishing industry. Some of there big cities like Casablanca have many jobs in the tourism industry since many western Europeans go there on
As civilization has expanded and improved it has gone through many different religions. Some of the most interesting and different have been the Mesopotamian religion, the religion of the Greeks and finally Christianity. These three religions were practiced in different areas and different time periods and therefore they will be excellent for a comparison. Religion is a key part of every society and civilization. No matter how it is organized or what type of God they worship, a society would be nothing without some kind of deity to organize it. Through the units of study the amount that people rely on Gods has been evident and that is why this makes a very good essay topic. Three areas of religion will be

The eastern religions that we have discussed in class are Hinduism, Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. The western religions that we have discussed in class are Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The Eastern Religions have originated in countries such as China, India, and Japan. The western religions originated in Europe and the Americas. There are few similarities between eastern religions and western religions, but many differences. The biggest difference between the two religions is that eastern religions believe in more than one god, whereas western religions believe in one God.
In many ways, Morocco is a country in it of itself. It sits on the northwestern corner of Africa, or in The Maghreb. It is tucked away from the rest of the continent and world by the soaring Atlas Mountains that sit in over 7,638 feet tall , in the South East you will find the Sahara Desert, which only engulfs 10 cities with its sand dunes stretching the size of the U.S. Its climate, geography, culture and history are closely related to the Mediterranean Culture than to the rest of African countries. For this reason tourist and visitors are often shocked by the odd feeling that they visited one of the Mediterranean Countries instead of reaching Africa and more specifically Morocco. In the northern part of the country, its fine beaches,
Learning different religion and seeing what the eastern and western are like and comparing them.
There are many different religions throughout the world, however, the five major world religions are Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. Although each religion has many differences from one another, there are a few similarities between one another. Each religion has one primary God or creator that they look up to. Even though in some religions there are more than one God, there is still one God above all the other Gods. In each religion, the primary God is a male.
In this concluding section, I shall develop a Schellingian account of the purpose of interreligious dialogue, and thus why engaging in interreligious dialogue might serve the best interests of religious communities. As mentioned above, religious systems are linked to religious communities. Thus, each religious system develops in the complex social and physical environment in which its community is located. In other words, each religious tradition is a part of an environment and potentially in contact with other traditions inhabiting that environment. Moreover, religions are connected not just on the historical level, but also from a metaphysical and eternal point of view. As God, according to Schelling, is the deepest root of all religions, "actual religion cannot be [metaphysically] separated from actual religion" as to do so would create separation in God himself.
Since the beginning of time, religion has always been a key component that linked societies together. Even though religion beliefs differ from country to country, people in most religions have a common goal. This common goal in life is to make it to the afterlife. When looking at four different religions (Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, and Spiritualism), it is possible to connect four completely different religions to one common goal which is the afterlife.
Morocco and Libya have many similarities along with their differences. The differences regarding ten economic factors in this countries will ultimately determine which country is economically healthier. Similarly, Morocco and Libya largely consist of Arab and Berber ethnicities, Arab and Berber make up 99% of Morocco’s ethic groups ^4 while in Libya Arab and Berber ethnicities make up close to 97% of its population ^3. Both countries recognize Arabic as their official language and in both countries Muslim is the most practiced religion, in Morocco 99% of its population of 34 million ^4 (39th in comparison to the world) practices Muslim and in Libya 96.6% of its population of 6.2 million ^3 (108th in comparison to the world) practices Muslim. Morocco ^2 and Libya ^1 are quite close to each other, both located in Northern Africa (see maps 1 and 2), with Algeria sitting in between them. Although these countries are within the same area, they differ in size drastically, Libya is 1.7 million square kilometers ^1, 17th largest country in the world, while Morocco is only 447 thousand square kilometers ^2 being the 58th largest country in the world. In Camille Tawil’s (2013) report she explains the reasons why Libya is currently politically unstable due to the transition from the old authoritarian rule to a new democratic order considering its government is defined as “under transitional government” ^5 (para. 1). The Immersion experience I chose to attend was a cultural seminar located at the family resource center on campus. Right off the bat, I was disappointed with the seminar. I was disappointed because the ad for the event said there would three to five speakers who would discuss their culture from their country of origin and when I showed up there was only two speakers present. Also, I was under the impression that the presentation style was going to be an interactive discussion between the speakers but it was more of a slideshow presentation. Despite the immediate disappointment, I was still eager to hear what the two speakers had to say about their countries and cultures, one of the speakers being from Russia and the other from Saudi Arabia. I learned some interesting facts that I was unaware of before attending the seminar such as on the Saudi Arabian flag they have the “Shahada” transcribed on it in their native language, which is a very symbolic text for the religion of Islam. I also learned that in Saudi Arabia, many of the people practice Islam and in doing so they participate in Ramadan, which is a fasting period during the last month of the year to bring them closer to their god. During this month of Ramadan, nobody who practices Islam is allowed to eat or drink anything during the hours where the sun is up. From the Russian speaker I learned that there is nearly ten million more women than there are men. I also learned that Russia has the most land of any country in

There are a lot of beliefs and religious thoughts that everyone believes in according to their religion. So, the world includes a lot of religions such as Catholic, Islam, Judaism, Taoism, Buddha but the most popular two religions are Islam and Catholic. Religion is a basic thing in a person life. Anyone in the world should follow what his family is following with religion, like my family they are Muslim, So, I should follow what my family is following but I have a friend his family are Jewish but he is Catholic because he read a lot of Catholic books and what is Christianity about and what is the truth about this religion. The general picture of religions is complicated picture, it’s complicated because every religion has its own book and the person who is following religion should be tied to the thoughts and beliefs of this book. I’m from Kuwait, Kuwait is a country in the Middle East and the Middle East is known with Islam. I’m a Muslim and as I said, each person should follow his family religion but there are some people who read and trust in other religion than their family religion. I followed my family religion but I didn’t understand very well and I was only mimicking my father of what he is doing. I heard a lot of ideas and thoughts about my religion Islam and some of weird ideas they are making and at that time I was very young. They were a lot of stages that faced me when I was growing up in my religion life and they were tough stages and I

Morocco has often been ignored by the geo-strategic thinkers of the world and regional powers but this country has very real potential to be a pivotal force for change in a troubled region. While they still have a way to go politically, Morocco at least has a form of constitutional monarchy that continues to take steps towards moderate reform. Also, unique for the MENA region is that they have a leader in King Mohammed VI who publicly denounces radical interpretations of Islam and terrorism1. If Morocco continues to take proper steps down the path of development, reform, and moderation it can serve as a model for the rest of the region to emulate. Especially since they don’t have the crutch of oil their development will have to be based on
Morocco has a history of independence not shared by its neighbours. It was crowded with merchants and businessmen. Nowadays, Morocco is still one of the economic centres and it has the largest transport junction. As Morocco links the central and western area together with the opening coastal area, its regional advantage is giving a big push to the development of economy in Morocco.
