Online School vs. Brick and Mortar Schools
Many families struggle with the decision of what type of education to provide for their children. Is public school the best experience for them to learn and grow socially? Or is online school better for your child as it offers a more personal experience and the ability to learn at their own pace. Each type of school provides the learning material needed, encourages discussions and writing and requires testing to determine each child’s knowledge and ability. However, there are many pros and cons to consider when choosing between and online and brick and mortar school.
First let’s describe Brick and Mortar Schools: Students must attend at a specific location and have a preset daily schedule that is not flexible. Classes are typically held in different classrooms resulting in the student having to move from room to room for each subject. The positive is that you can attend school at places such the local library at an airport and even on an airplane. The negative to this would be that because you can attend anywhere, you may tend to get distracted. The daily schedule is preset but is flexible to complete at the students own pace. Teachers are readily available via, phone, email, text and chat and provide one on one help. Students can also receive help from their learning coaches. Online students can have social interaction via video, chat and extra -curricular activities which may lower the chances of peer pressure and bullying. Online schools are cheaper as most of your school supplies you have at home, you don’t have to wear a uniform or buy special clothes and you don’t have to pay for many outside
