17 April, 2016 Shortly after World War II, North Korea’s central government was renamed the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. Conflicts began to rise when the North and South’s political systems contradicted each others. These differences led to warfare between these two countries. During the mid to late 1900's, the North Koreans under the Kim family, went to war with South Korea inflicting many casualties while economically isolating their country internationally creating economic struggles for their own people.
In 1945, North Korea immediately began to put in place territorial and political reforms. For territorial reforms, Korea was split into two territories-the North. These two separated countries were split by the 38th parallel, which was the name for the border. …show more content…

In 1949, Kim created the Korean Workers party which was a political party based on communism and likely influenced by the Chinese. Conflicts arose as the North crossed the 38th parallel and it did not keep the two countries in their two zones, as Kim Sung II of North Korea attacked the South in 1950 (ABC-CLIO,"North Korea") The North Korean's had the support of the Soviet Union, while the South was allied with the United Nations. ("The Korean War") With the North Koreans instigating the attack, the United Nations held a meeting where they decided that North Korea was responsible for the war. At the beginning of the war, the North ran through the Southern defenses but with the aid of the United Nations, they pushed back the North and that started the Korean War.
