Fahrenheit 451 Vs. Night As the saying goes history repeats itself. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, might be fictional, but it also shows some factors from history, for example; the Holocaust. The book Night by Elie Wiesel, shares insight on how the Holocaust affected the people. Although these two books are completely different, the perfect society and the Holocaust are the same. Because they have similar characteristics in how the events happened. The first characteristic that can be identified is, convincing people to change by making it seem appealing. The society in Fahrenheit 451 tries to convince the public that books are the evil causing choices. These choices lead to thoughts. Mind control can be used different ways like it is in these two books. The first way is used by both, which is feeding lies to the public. Adolf Hitler fed lies to the public with fake information, but at the time technology was still being invented so it was hard to know if it was a lie so most thought it truth. Hitler, therefore once in power started to control the minds of the public from youth, then cut off things not Nazi related. BBC talks about the different ways Adolf composed mind control in Germany towards Jews. One very big way was with propaganda. Propaganda became the biggest lie that mostly everyone believed, this was their version of tv commercials today. Fahrenheit 451 is similar with teachings starting in youth, but there is no propaganda used, because it’s already a way of life. This society is completely cut off from truths and are constantly fed lies to avoid thoughts, keeping the mind control in the society. Lies are all they know; until a group starts to realize this is wrong. They then try to change it; however they have to go against an army of mind erased soldiers. That makes things a little more
