In Capulet and Lady Capulet’s minds, what is best for their daughter is for her to marry Paris as soon as possible. Without consulting Juliet, Lady Capulet springs this marriage upon her calling it a “sudden day of joy”, even though a wedding to a man whom Juliet barely knows does not seem like it would be a joyous occasion. Some of his most famous plays are Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, King Lear, The Tempest, Julius Caesar and a numerous amount of others but one of his most known plays is Romeo and Juliet. Parenting is an ancient task that, till this present century, has not yet been perfected. It is a challenge that many mothers and fathers do well in while others unquestionably fail in. In Romeo and Juliet, both sets of parents are completely unaware of their children's thoughts, desires, and intentions. Not only is there a lack of communication between the parents and their children, but the parents also seem to have no interest in making an effort to know or understand their children. Therefore, as a result of their neglectful parenting , the classic love story ends in the suicidal deaths of both Romeo and Juliet, a tragedy that could have been avoided had their parents practiced better parenting skills such as interest, and communication or understanding.
details. One example of this is in the beginning of the story. In the play,
The way men convey their love for the first time is very similar, if not exactly the same in both literature and songs. “Michelle,” is a song performed by Sir Paul McCartney, at the White House for Barack and Michelle Obama. In the song, a man is trying to woo a woman, whom of which we assume is French; it is also. Lines 44-53 of The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet is an excerpt from a play by William Shakespeare. In the excerpt, Romeo sees a young lady, who he does not know yet that it is Juliet, and shows instant interest upon putting his eyes on her. Considering both sources and what they say about men when they express their emotions, we can presume that when a male first has a passionate attraction to someone, that man is influenced by those emotions
Adults, especially parents, are known to take care of their children, steer them away from bad and into good, but at times adults are warped into their children sly actions and are found guiding their loved ones to catastrophe. The parents, at times, fail their young ones in times of need, while still expecting them not to fail. This concept of the failure of adults is portrayed in William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet where two young star crossed lovers die for the sake of each other’s love. While the failure of an adult’s role to their children’s lives seems inconceivable, the Capulets, the Nurse, and Friar Lawrence all fail and bear responsibility in the demise of Romeo and Juliet.
The two stories The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and Pyramus and Thisby there are many similarities and differences. For example, they are both love stories. Which is a similarity. A example of a difference is Pyramus and Thisby never got to meet each other before their fate. Throughout the stories there are many more examples of similarities and differences.
“Nothing you can make that can’t be made. No one you can save that can’t be saved. Nothing you can do but you learn how to be you in time. It’s Easy.” Can you imagine, writing a song in 11 days that would be performed in front of approximately 400 million people all over the world? Sounds a bit unrealistic doesn’t it? The Beatles were asked to write a song that they would broadcast all over the world. A song that had a massage, a massage that was clear and easy to understand. Geoff Emerick once said “I don’t know if they had prepared any ides but they left it very late to write the song. John said ‘Oh God, is it that close? I suppose we’d better write something.’ “Perhaps it was the 11 day crunch that made this song a hit, or maybe it was the massage. All many know is that “All You Need is Love” is a song that has been carried throughout history for years. Many would classify this song as a classic, much like
Baz Luhrmann’s adaptation on Romeo and Juliet has many similarities and contrasting elements with the original, made by Shakespeare. The casting, special, and Scenery of the adaptation and the original all have some things in common or are contrasting to each other.
Friar Lawrence: Here, this will make you sleep for 42 hours and make you appear dead.
Tragedies explore the downfall of a main character with a doomed fate. The play Romeo and Juliet written by the playwright William Shakespeare and the film adaption directed by Baz Luhrmann use imagery to make the audience aware of Romeo and Juliet’s doomed fate. Both texts explore the story of two lovers whose destiny was to end up together dead in the afterlife. In the print version, William Shakespeare illustrates the significance of imagery through the recurring symbols and motifs of stars and light and dark. In the film version, Baz Luhrmann demonstrates the significance of imagery through the recurring symbols and motifs of religious objects and symbols as well as water.
The original Romeo and Juliet was written by William Shakespeare along with the movie being directed by Baz Luhrmann. Romeo and Juliet was about two ¨star-crossed lovers¨, whom were devoted to each other, but couldn´t be together. Because of the extreme feud between the Montagues and Capulets, Romeo and Juliet are not allowed to interact, let alone fall in love. Luhrmann used costumes, weaponry, scenery, marriage, transportation and culture to create a modernized film meant to keep both Elizabethan and modern audiences entertained.
Of the two versions of Romeo and Juliet that we watched in class, I believe that the Luhrmann version was more compelling since it better conveyed the plot with a story and setting that is much more modern but helps one understand the plotline better. When the two houses are visualized as more of gangs and mob bosses, it helps one in modern day remember and associate the plot with current events. In the Zeffirelli version of Romeo and Juliet, while the setting was much more realistic to what Shakespeare most likely visualized, the story was much more bland in my opinion due to the lack of intriguing elements in it. Because of the way Luhrmann directed the film in addition to its setting, it makes for a more compelling and memorable story.
Many stories start up or are inspired from other stories. Lots of the stories people enjoy may have come from ideas from other stories. “Romeo and Juliet” was inspired by a poem called “Pyramus and Thisbe”. Romeo and Juliet took some ideas and some parts of the poem and turned it into a different play. This can cause them to have some similarities and differences.
