Compare And Contrast Europeans And Native Americans

When comparing two different cultures, from a distance, things may seem vastly different, but when you look closer, you realize how many things they have in common with each other. This is the case for any time period; past, present, and future. Focusing on the early Americas and Europeans, we see many differences. However, when we look a little deeper, they may have been more alike than we initially thought. In the 1500s, many European artists were creating illustrations of Native American tribes and the early expeditions of Europeans to the Americas. These depictions gave an idea as to how life was for the Native Americans. Since most Europeans had never been to the Americas, it was good for them to see how the people across the ocean lived. By looking at some of the illustrations you can tell how much emphasis the Native Americans put on their crops. Most of their land was dedicated to growing corn, tobacco, squashes and pumpkins, as well as other things they used for trade with the Europeans newcomers. Because they lived in the woods, they also had access to the wildlife there. They could hunt and use the animals for food as well as clothing. Comparing the living conditions in the Americas to that of those in Europe, especially from a distance and with little knowledge, it would certainly appear that they were. The living conditions of the Native Americans was much more prehistoric than that of the Europeans, and the way they presented themselves aided in them appearing more undeveloped. However, for what they had to work with, they were fairly advanced. They were civilized in their own way. It was extremely different than that of the Europeans, but it worked for them.
