Compare And Contrast Frederick Douglas And Malcolm X

In almost a century difference in time, Frederick Douglas, an abolitionist of the 19th century, and Malcolm X, a separatist and civil rights activist of the 20th century cleverly managed to learn how to read and write utilizing the resources around them. Their circumstances and ignorance did not stifle their desire to learn to read and write, or obtain the knowledge that would bring forth their positions as powerful leaders of black communities across the land. Compelling circumstances lead them down a path that ignited a tremendous passion to seek as much knowledge as one could contain. That knowledge is utilized to aid in the fight for freedom, civil liberties, and injustices against the people of color and for themselves. Their acts of protest, resistance, and courage are what made these two men significant persons to follow. It is without wonder how Frederick Douglas and Malcom X became to teach and lead many people of color the same information they sought out. It was intuition, personal thoughts, feelings of injustice, determination, curiosity to learn knowledge of self, and the desire to fight for what was right that made Douglas and X want to enlightened their people. These two forces would no longer live in their enslaved, dark, illiterate world. They created a platform that ignited change and brought direction, enlightenment, and value to their people by any means necessary so, they too could come out of dark and see the light.
