Cradles of Civilizations lie in the societies that were recognized for being the first of a certain aspect to Western Civilization that made an impact. The four major ones are Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, and China. Each of the four has similarities between them, despite being in different locations. There is also the possibility of more of these civilizations existing besides the four main ones. The general characteristics of a complex societies or civilization include military and religion. The cradles of civilization fall perfectly into the definition of complex. Mesopotamia had begun to see people near the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and they all spread out not too long after. The first sign of settlement in Egypt was located near the Nile Delta. First settlers were spotted by the Indus River Valley for India. China began by the yellow river. Soon everyone that one first located dispersed and grew to be a part of their culture and land at which they were promptly discovered. In comparison, each of these civilizations first began by a river. From that river they began their new society that continued to grow and discover. Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, and China all are the four main ones that brought hope to establishment. They all share their areas of discovers in common, as they were all discovered by a river. The four are not the only cradles of civilizations either, as new discoveries emerge, so do signs of settlers in new societies. Military and religions are prime examples of characteristics of complex societies or civilizations. They are both hard to maintain and control under a land of people, especially as they make advancements and discover new types to improve the previous one.
