French and Latin American Revolutions

The French and Latin American revolutions were both successful revolutions and the people got what they wanted in both instances. There were different steps taken to overthrowing the governments but the root of the problems that caused the revolutions were the same. The problems all stemmed from economic, social, and political problems. The french were trying to rid themselves of the monarchy and Latin America was trying to rid themselves of the control of Spain. The French fought from 1792 until 1802 when they finally won independence. Latin America had revolutions that started in the early 1800s. The French Revolution and the Latin American Revolutions, although had different steps leading up to them; they both led to the overthrow of their government because of political, social, and economic issues. In France people wanted more of a say in how the country is run but many rulers thought of themselves as absolute monarchs and ruled using divine right. Divine right means that the king was destined to be king because God chose him to rule the country therefore he made all the decisions, whether it was new laws or putting people in jail. A lot of the power went to the nobility and clergy which always left the third estate, the common person, on the bottom with no power. The third estate was poor and was forced to pay all of the taxes. The third estate was also always outvoted when making decisions because the first and second estates teamed up. This made them angry and the third estate started their own National Assembly. This is why the french started their revolution. In Latin America the first and most powerful class were the peninsulares. Then next came the creoles. Peninsulares were born in Spain but moved to Latin America. Creoles had spanish parents but were born in Latin America. Politically Peninsulares ruled the land in
