Compare The American Dream To Me

For some the American dream is the value of hard work. To others it's a huge emphasis on material possessions. So, the American dream is no longer the American dream. It is a dream that anyone and everyone can relate to. This dream is the idea of having what ever you want. May it be material goods, ideas and values, or freedoms and rights. This idea also represents the uniqueness of America. It is a dream a lot of people around the world don't get to enjoy;

This is a question many people struggle with, as Identity is key in today’s society. Knowing who you are, what you identify as, or your ancestral lineage speaks volumes about how an individual will be treated due to public perception. For example, America is a growing world power that has strong social, economic and political influence on the world stage. It is this status symbol that many Americans identify with, irrespective of race, gender or sexual orientation. Identifying as American citizen creates an image of perceived wealth, power and intelligence perpetuated by media and misleading myths of the “American dream”. The American dream is an idealistic notion of freedom and equal opportunity that implies the high possibility of success, in the presence of determination and hard work. However, can this truly be achieved in the company as sexism, homophobia, and racism? Are our privileges determined by the color of our skin? Or is it simply biological, that some races are naturally inferior to others? Race is a social concept used to categorize a certain group of people by culture, location, ethnicity and skin color. “Race is a cultural invention, that bears no intrinsic relationship to actual human physical variations, but reflects social meaning imposed upon these variations” (Smedley, 1999) Race is cultural rather than biological because, the foundations of its core principles are based on western colonialism, as well as a lack of scientific evidence

From the birth of America, to America today, the driving force and the heart of America has always been the “American Dream.” The “American Dream” is a goal for the majority of people who live in the realms of the Americanized world. I believe that the “American Dream” is controlling my own destiny, becoming successful, and living free. Examples of this dream are things like television, automobiles, supermarkets, malls, Internet, planes, trains, etc. The “American Dream” is success, freedom, and being able to control your own destiny.

The term “American Dream” is defined as an idea which believes that all people have the possibility of prosperity and success. The idea first came from James Adams, a noted American writer and historian. He claimed, “Life should be better and richer and fuller for everyone, with opportunity for each according to ability and achievement.” Therefore, the core concepts of the American Dream were closely linked to hard work and opportunity.

The American Dream, a dream on which our country has been built on and continues to develop and bring new and new waves of immigrants. It is a part of each American; this dream has been the light at the end of the tunnel for which our parents and ancestors were coming for. To find a life that was rewarded and built only on their will of hard working and efforts.

The American dream, a term that fills most Americans heads with the idea of obtaining freedom, riches, and living life to the fullest. It started back when my U.S. History teachers giving us a history lesson on North America where colonists wanting to obtain religious freedom. the idea that leads everyone into discussion that did the American dream has change for the better over time. For some cases, the idea has prosper to fulfilling desires while some argue it went downhill due to greed, arrogance, and mans selfish acts. But in other case, this can be arguing a fact that all Americans wanting to achieve happiness, freedom, and the choice of having their voices heard, for these following reasons.

The American Dream expresses the following ideas: self-invention, possibilities, freedom, opportunities to be a self-made person, and value of hard work. All people are equal and that is what holds the diverse population together. People must all have equal rights or everything would fall apart. To achieve The American Dream you must work hard in the society and try to achieve success and richness. The Declaration of Independence is what The American Dream rooted from, which proclaims that “all men are created equal” with the right to "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

The American dream to me is being able to have rights and freedom to become an individual that you want to be. I believe it’s to achieve dreams you may have thought weren’t even possible. America is all about miracles and making things happen, nobody gives up if you really want it bad enough. You have to be a risk taker and know that things may not go exactly your way, but in America you make the best out of it.

The American dream is to become successful and the achieve in your goals. It is for you to be great at something so you can follow your destiny. It is also for everyone, to enjoy the freedom we all have. For the American Dream there are many obstacles that you go through. Our country is mostly about poverty, race, and equality. The groups of people that mostly get treated differently and have a different perspective towards them are immigrants, single mothers, and African Americans.

I would define my American Dream as having my dream job of becoming a neurosurgeon, marrying the man of my dreams, having a beautiful family, living life to the fullest and being happy while doing everything. I also have always wanted to travel the world and see many different places. I want to be very successful in life and to be able to do whatever I can for my family. My biggest part of my dream is to have fun no matter what I'm doing, who I'm doing it with, or where I'm doing it. All of these little dreams make up the American Dream that I have always had ever since I was a little kid.

The American Dream can mean different things depending on who is asked. Some will answer it is the freedom of religion, class or race, others will claim it is about the ability to choose where they want to work, what they want to wear, or what’s for breakfast the next day.

The American Dream is an ideal of its people for a better tomorrow. America is a cultural melting pot made up of many peoples, traditions and beliefs. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines a dream as “something that you have wanted very much to do, be, or have for a long time.” A better tomorrow has been the goal that has united our diverse masses. It is made of the hope and aspirations that feeds success to future

America is a place where there is liberty, opportunity, and the right to express yourself in anyway as long as you don’t violate the rights of other people. Some might associate America with the bald eagle, the American flag, or the stars. Others may talk about the colors, red, white, and blue. Beliefs that people have in America is that we are all equal to each other. We have the same rights to freely express ourselves, to practice any religion, or to protest peacefully. Being American means to be free, to have the right to govern ourselves, and to work hard for a better future.
