I would like to compare/contrast Pope Francis vs. Pope Benedict XVI. During his first year in office, Pope Francis has become one of the world’s greatest social innovators. Many have celebrated Pope Francis as a spiritual leader, diplomat, and a politician. Pope Francis is a leader to start something new by launching a global campaign against hunger. Using social media, such as YouTube, Pope Francis sent his message out to elect a day, December 10th, for a world-wide rally. Additionally, Pope Francis is known for sending out tweets @Pontifex. By the use of social media, the Pope has captured attention all across the globe. Take for instance the time Pope Francis washed the feet of Muslim women in prison. Sometimes the things that have been forgotten can be viewed as new by reminding us of what is important (Watson, 2013). Pope Francis actions reflect a social innovator and some may call intrapreneur (Dearing, 2014). The definition of intrapreneur is a person within a large corporation who takes direct responsibility for turning an idea into a profitable finished product through assertive risk-taking and innovation (Pinchot, 2010). Pope Benedict business goals As of January 20, 2013 Pope Benedict has 12,739 followers on Twitter. In his 2009 encyclical, Pope Benedict XVI conveys issue about the international economic system and its overemphasis on benefit at the price of individual and group needs. “Without question, one of the biggest threats for companies is that they are almost specifically responsible to their traders, thereby restricting their public value.” The pope’s solution to this situation is not only government control of companies, but the development of new business designs where human and group results are regarded an integral aspect of the main point here. In many ways, he explains substitute companies that are aspect of the quickly growing solidarity economic system.
