Apple vs. Android Over the past decade and a half technology has grown to be a normal, everyday necessity for the average person. One of the main technologies used by people are smartphones, but more importantly two main types of smartphones which are Apple and Android. There is great controversy between the two on which is the better type of smartphone. However, in my personal experience I feel that neither Apple nor Android have the upper hand, but are equal as smartphone companies . Both of these companies products are user friendly, have great warranties, coverages, features, and their products are equally entertaining for the customers. To begin with, an important component for a smart phone is for the phone to be user friendly and easy to navigate through. With Apple’s smartphone product, the iPhone, the system is highly user friendly. The setup instructions are simple and easy to learn. On the other hand Android’s products are also easy to navigate through. Android uses easy methods called “shortcuts” which allow the user to easily move through the different apps. and are ultimately incomprehensible for a new customer. Apple’s products also have the latest technology and features such as fingerprint, face recognition, enhanced cameras, and the voice recognition system “Siri”. With Android smartphones they have many technological advances as well, such as fingerprint, Galaxy/Google (their version of Siri), chrome cast, and other special camera enhancing features. Not only that but with Apple you have “the cloud” which is in my personal experience a great storing system. With the cloud you can instantly save any documents, music, contacts, messages, pictures, etc.; and with these saved in the cloud you can download them onto any other Apple device. On the other hand with Android smartphones you don’t have this feature, however , you can still use SD cards which can hold much more space the the cloud can. The only drawback is that you may have to constantly restart and download all of the music, pictures and things you had back on to your smartphone. To further explain, another important part of a smartphone is having good warranties, coverages, and features for their products. Unlike Android Apple
The functionality of the iPhone’s operating system is so smooth and advanced, it out performs Android operated device. HTC faces stiff competition with Apple and Samsung. Apple’s iPhone is considered as the benchmark of the industry and operators such as Spring is willing to pay $15.5 billion dollars to Apple just to have the right to sell iPhone. These demonstrates the popularity and the strength of iPhone. Furthermore, Apple’s iOS has much higher number of application downloads and higher revenue for the developers than the Android system. This signifies that developers with limited resources might only release their newest application for iOS. This is shown through the number of available apps for iOS against Android, with iOS having around 200,000 more apps than Android. This makes iOS more attractive than Android to the consumer. This in

When people are deciding to buy a smart phone a lot of questions are raised in their head before choosing one. Should I get an Android or an Iphone? How much do I want to spend on a smart phone? Which phone has features that are beneficial to me? What specifications does each phone have? Some people would say Iphones are better than Androids, while others say that Androids are better than Iphones. When looking at a Galaxy S5 and the Iphone 5s there are major differences between them.

Over the last decade, electronic-based companies such as Samsung and Apple have collaborated with cellular-phone carriers, and have studied the average consumer to find endless ways to improve the cellular phone. As a result, the smart phone was born. In 2014 both Apple and Samsung sold a combined total of about 108.2 million units of their products! Samsung sold about 71 million units while on the other hand Apple sold 94.75 million units. For the past few years, the competing and comparison between Apple and Samsung was at its maximum. Fights started between people to prove an idea about which company is the best but they did not know that they were only comparing their smartphone. That is not the only thing a person should concentrate at while comparing two of the biggest multinationals in the world. People should look at the sales of all of the company’s products, their profits and losses, the history of the company, and the reviews of the people about their
In Manjoo’s view, “It’s hard to call Android anything other than a resounding success. Well, except for one small thing: Most Android phones are crap” (Manjoo). Although Manjoo acknowledges the fact that Android is a very successful company, in making this comment he rejects to succumb to the extremely popular operating system that is Android. The unresponsive touchscreen, unnecessary software, overall layout of the home screen is unattractive and difficult to comprehend and the overall cheapness of the phones frustrated Manjoo. I believe that one of Android’s main problem is not the software but the companies providing the service. Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T all add extra adware to Android devices that are paid for by companies such as Blockbuster and NFL which cannot be removed from the phone. Consequently, the perfect phone expected by the consumer is not being delivered.
Once again Apple has been the first to the market when it comes to new features such as the touch screen, which has helped to keep its competition at arms length. Like all other Apple products, the smartphone is seen by many consumers in the industry as fashionable and a must have. Also Apple’s online music store support has also been a huge lift to its smartphones, as consumers can download music and thousands of applications.
A total of 96.8 percent of phones out in the word are either iphones or androids according to the 2015 recorded phone sales. Since 2010 apple and and android has been fighting and competing with each other trying to achieve that top of the smartphone market. It all started when Samsung released their bread new Galaxy S. This phone was identical to the iphone, having similar looks and similar icons. Many people consider this new Androids product better at this moment because android has been out for a longer time, and still provide mind blowing devices like this one. This situation made apple very furious because this new android device was a replica of their iphone. The market prices went crazy and people started favoring androids because how they looked and acted just like an iphone and it was and a completely different price range. There forward androids started selling more than their own iphone. This made apple step up their game in production and started listen to people 's comments. This is when the real fight begins. This is when people started seeing that apple in general is better than android offering more to the people and offering what they asked for.
Smartphone market is fast-moving and very high competitive due to intense competition between two big smartphone producers, Apple and Samsung. At the beginning, Apple dominated this market solely by introducing a new innovative type of smartphone by Steve Jobs that has revolutionized people lifestyle and mobile industry. A few years after launching iPhone, a new fast following competitor, Samsung came into this market, and their sales have outperformed Apple from the year 2011 (According to Chart A1 in Appendix). In term of developing their product, Samsung has created its products by following Apple’s technology since the beginning of producing its smartphone, therefore there are many patent lawsuits between them. Since Steve Job passed away, Apple has continued to develop its core competence, which is an innovation of new type of smartphone that could help them to take back their market share from its rival, Samsung. Nonetheless, the competition between Apple and Samsung will still continue intensively in the future.
Currently in 2014, the iPhone offers over hundreds of thousands of apps that make almost any task user-friendly. They also have the most advanced technology compared to other app markets (“iPhone” 1). This did not just happen quickly. There was not an App Store until a year after the launch of the first iPhone. It is mind blowing to believe that the iPhone 5s has LTE mobile broadband, while the first iPhone in 2007 did not even provide 3G (2). In about five years, Apple's iPhone developed greatly when it comes to the technology within it. Also, the outside features went through modern enhancements, including change in appearance from the original, and getting slimmer with each new generation. Throughout time apple will continue to
