Beowulf and The Last Kingdom’s Bravery
Beowulf is the story of a Geatish warrior named Beowulf who fought three evil monsters and defeat all of them. After his glorious feats, he became the king of the Getes. Later he must prove his bravery against a fierce dragon to save his people. The Last Kingdom is a tale about an Englishman by the name of uhtred who has fought for both the Danes and the English in many wars including for England. Uhtred must prove his bravery in a final battle against Ubba , a great Danish warrior. In both these works bravery in battle is used to reveal that great Anglo-saxon warriors are brave. The bravery in battle of Beowulf and Uhtred reveals that in the Anglo-Saxon world, to be a great warrior, one must have the heart to do things no one else can do.

But we do have people who fight for our country, military personnel. Everyone is our armed forces are people who have stepped forth and are willing to die for the freedom and the people of our country. The police, firefighters and citizens who rushed into buildings to save lives on September 11, 2001. They did what no one else wanted to do by risking their lives to save a live and more. These acts, and similar acts, demand great deals of courage. Many of these people put themselves in harm's way in order to do what is right. In Anglo-Saxon culture and literature, to be a hero was to be a warrior. A hero had to be strong, intelligent, and courageous. Warriors had to be willing to face any odds, and fight to the death for their glory and people. They were strong, intelligent, tactful, courageous, and willing to sacrifice all for glory and their
