Comparing Emily And Casey's Attachment Theory

Since Emily and Casey grew up in a loving household, therefore, I would assume that a good relationship existed between the caregivers and the two twins (secure attachment). According to the attachment theory, an individual in this they of emotional relationship would be less likely to convert or ditch religion all together. However, in the story above Emily is demonstarting insecure (avoidant & anxious) attachment while Casey is experiencing secure attachment to her caregivers, chosen religion and is less likely to convert. Why did Emily turn out differently? Emily could have diverged from her religious teachings during her cognitive development. First, in the realistic stage (7-12) Emily would have began to differentiate between what is real and what is fantasy by analyzing the world around her and questing everything she is taught. At this stage, Emily may have gathered enough evidence against her region such as a prayer not answered or realizing that religious figures like Santa Claus do not exist in the real world (may question if God begin exits also). Next, in the individualistic stage Emily would have began to explore other religions and ideas separate from the religonshe grew up with. …show more content…

For example, joining a group in school, school teachings, and peers probably made Emily realize that there are a lot more options available to her outside of her parents religion. This, a more scientific social context would discourage Emily's religiousness because she world learn about things like evolution, the big bang, and the true age of the Earth which is all against her religious
