Her book, The Pedagogy of Confidence: Inspiring High Intellectual Performance in Urban Schools, dispels the theory that student achievement is best improved by implementing policies that focus on weakness. It is written in hopes to “rekindle educator’s belief in the vast capacity of their urban students and to restore their confidence in their own ability to inspire high intellectual performance by these students” (Jackson, 1). This book is inspiring and an important piece of literature for teachers, administrators, superindedants, and
In Savage Inequalities, Jonathan Kozol documents the devastating inequalities in American schools, focusing on public education’s “savage inequalities” between affluent districts and poor districts. From 1988 till 1990, Kozol visited schools in over thirty neighborhoods, including East St. Louis, the Bronx, Chicago, Harlem, Jersey City, and San Antonio. Kozol describes horrifying conditions in these schools. He spends a chapter on each area, and provides a description of the city and a historical basis for the impoverished state of its school. These schools, usually in high crime areas, lack the most basic needs. Kozol creates a scene of rooms without heat, few supplies or text, labs with no

During the movie miss G fights against the principal and her husband, Scott Casey, to give her best for the kids she is teaching in classroom 203.
The first day of taking this class is realized there was a sundry of antic people in this class. Dylan who they call, “Arms” dwindles everyone who is compared to him because of his massive size. Caleb or “Joe” gives Mrs. Fleming perturbation and fury because he does not know when to talk talking. The concept of the movie also can be used in terms of academics as persistence and hard-work are major traits any student should have in order to be successful in their studies. The documentary challenged me to think in a way I have never thought before, which is to always be aware
It shows that diversity doesn’t mean separation. Instead, we can live together peacefully with one another. Ethics, skin color, and how you look are the things that make you who you are. Erin does not only inspire the students, but the audience too. She never gave up on her position, moreover she is enhanced in it each day. She didn’t change the student’s character, but she changed the student’s point of view and it made them feel like their lives were worth living. She broke down the walls that separated the students from each other. This movie demonstrated that to change how we think about our life can make our life different. The song in this movie helps in making the story more interesting, you can clearly see how the story flows and how all the problems were solved. This movie shows us what is happening now in our world, they demonstrated us the conflict and showed us that many people have been suffering from it. Watching this movie with your friends and family is a marvelous idea and you will know what a great movie is

However, Erin Gruwell was determined that no matter the cost she would teach her students not only
Poor quality of education poses the greatest threat at this period of time in American history. In today’s society, black public schools lack enough resources for students to become aware of their own history. Money, books, overcrowded classrooms and unmotivated teachers are all the things that can negatively affect the quality of education. This type of environment for urban public schools has been around for decades, versus the more high achieving suburban schools which are often considered private schools.
In the film, Freedom writers contained wide variety of sensitive topics. From prejudice to racism it dived into the unspoken part of society.
