I can hear the sound of a 38 special, pistol, going off. It sounds like the great Josey Whales. Josey Whales and I are similar in numerous ways. We both enjoy being in the wonderful outdoors. The outlaw of Josey Whales is probably my favorite old western movie ever. We both are good with a gun. I think if Josey and I teamed up, nobody would be able to stop us. We both are good to people. That is my favorite thing about Josey. As can be seen, Josey and I are similar in many ways. Josey Whales and I are alike in numerous ways. This is one of those ways. First, Josey and I absolutely love the great outdoors. If there is something Josey Whales and I have in common, that is it. We sometimes rely on the outdoors for our food, water,
Irving has grown from a single service station to being the Maritimes leading energy company while remaining family run. Irving has benefited the Maritimes in by giving back to students of the Maritimes by donating funds for scholarships at multiple universities. The North Atlantic Right Whale has increased in population since Irving has rerouted their shipping routes and the company continues to fund the aquarium on the investigation of new technology to increase the efforts of helping the whales. Maritimers have benefited by Irving supplying job opportunities and allowing people to stay in their provinces.
What can have 48-52 teeth or no teeth at all? It is the gorgeous creature we call the whale? From Belugas, to Humpbacks, to Killer Whales, there is much to learn about these lovely gentle giants. Did you know that Beluga whales are the smallest species of whale? Belugas can reach weights of 3,000 pounds, adults are reported to be 14 feet long.
In terms of social structure, baleen whales are known to be quite solitary in nature often traveling alone or in small groups.Communication among baleen whales involves loud low-pitched moans and whines, and physical gestures such as spy hopping, lob tailing, breaching and charging.
Beluga whales have bizarre social behaviors. They are vocal when communicating, they use a language of clicks, whistles, and clangs. “Belugas live together in small groups called pods” (National Geographic). The way that they use their variety of sounds makes them more vocal than some of the other whales. Beluga whales socials behaviors are unusual from other whales.
Sperm whales can hold their breath for over one hour because they have electrically charged proteins in their blood. The sperm whales make some of the longest dives of all the mammals in the whole world. Comparing the humans to the sperm whales, the longest time that in all time a human has ever held their breath underneath the water was for only 19 minutes and the maximum that a sperm whale can dive underneath the water is for 90 minutes approximately according to the scientists that study this whales. There is a difference of 71 minutes (1 hour and 11 minutes) between the time a human can dive into the water and the time a sperm whale can dive into the water.
After reading the three versions of “Whales”, the third version is the strongest. Its thesis statement is the second sentence of the paper: “Scientists studying whales rate their intelligence on a level with higher primates because of their complex group behavior.” The writer also clearly voices their opinion within the piece. The attitude and tone in “Whales” is a perfected mix of professionalism and personal stance, a balance between fact and opinion. The intended audience may be high schoolers in a classroom because of the paper’s writing style. The language and the rhythm of the piece give it strength. Yet there are weaknesses as well. Some ideas I have to revise it so that it is better includes adding more detail to the fast facts and
"Killer Whales: Gentle Giants, or Viscous Killers?" Killer whales are an important subject of mythology for many indigenous peoples, especially the Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest. The whales have not been hunted extensively by humans, although they have been hunted by some shore whaling operations, and some individuals have been taken as aquarium show animals from the waters around the Pacific Northwest and Iceland. Killer whales are perceived by many near-shore fishermen to be in competition with human fishing activity (Anheiser Busch 1). The killer whale, or Orcinus orca can be found worldwide in all seas from both tropics to Arctic and Antarctic oceans. They are one of the most well known whales because of the captivity of Shamu
Imagine that your four years old and suddenly the world has you know it changes your spriped away for your family and you witness you family killed. This is exactly what happened to some of the Killer Whales and dolphins keep in captivity and yes now to this day this is illge but some of the killer whale and dolphins at seaworld today like Talcum is a Killer whale at Seaworld Florida who witness and live through exactly that.He was not alone many other Killer Whale and dolphins have the same story to tell. This is unexpected for us to do as a civilized society and it outraged me that we let this happen in the first place. Clovis,Chappy,Wally,Wanda and 196 other Orcas and dolphins passed away in cavity without being able to go back to where
Niki Caro’s film, Whale Rider, beautifully captures the small village of Whangara, which is located in the northeast of New Zealand’s North Island. The film portrays a Maori tribe that tells the story of a long-held tradition. This film is rich in symbolism, which is easy for any viewer to understand. Whale Rider does a wonderful job of capturing the attention of the audience because of the intense and close relationships between the characters, the way Caro conveys the movie’s message, and the features the movie offers.
With the rise of the internet, we've all seen it: Misleading news article or click bate posts on social media. Unfortunately, such things have struck again, this time on a dangerous and ridiculous scale.
The story of Whale Rider takes place in a Maori village in New Zealand. The main character is a 12 year old girl name Paikea “Pai” Apirana and her ambition to become the next Chief of her village. Along with following on Pai’s story, the movie showed a great number of local Maori religion and culture. Some of the things I will explore is the Maori religion, gender roles, and a personal reflection on what was learned through the movie.
Imagine being separated from your parents at a young age, taken only to spend the rest of your life in a confined environment, forced against your natural living circumstances. This is the life of the Orca whales (also known as Killer whales) at Sea World, an amusement park located in multiple places around the nation. Sea World performs shows incorporating animals, such as seals and whales to do tricks for amusement. However, recent research and media shows that Sea World lacks appropriate care for the whales they hold captive. They also have been said to hunt for their whales, but hunting of these animals threaten their growth, natural living conditions and their global population. One might say that the park is like a prison to these creatures, however those in prison make the choice to be put there. The whales are not allowed the freedom when held in captivity, so Sea World should be shut down due to its responsibility for the life threatening circumstances of the Orca Whales.
Whales are mammals of the open ocean that socialize and travel in groups called “pods.” They communicate and socialize with each other through various types of languages. My goal is to explain communication between whales by giving you an overview of; noises that whales make to communicate and socialize with each other, non-verbal cues between whales, and a distinct sound that allows them to see. Whales rely on sounds to determine the needs for their survival.
Literally everyone who lives in cities knows that the world can be an extremely loud place. Marine life is immensely sensitive to under water noise. When the navy uses sonar, it causes noise in the world's seas, it agitates sea creatures that communicate through sound waves, such as whales. A study shows that whales' behaviors are altered by any exposure to sonar waves.
The origin of modern day whales, a mystery that has puzzled paleontologists for years, may have just been solved with the discovery of an ankle bone. This discovery might sound simple and unimportant, but the bones of these ancient animals hold many unanswered questions and provide solid proof of origin and behavior. The relationship between whales and other animals has proven to be difficult because whales are warm-blooded, like humans, yet they live in the sea. The fact that they are warm-blooded suggests that they are related to some type of land animal. However, the questions of exactly which animal, and how whales evolved from land to water, have remained unanswered until now.
