McGregor’s Theory Y has a positive view on employees. This theory believes that employees will do well when they are given the ability to do so. This is a Theory that trusts that humans are mostly committed to making the company that they work for successful.
McGregor’s Theory X views people in a negative light. This theory assumes that most employees or people in general, dislike working and do not work unless they have to. It believes that people need to threaten to produce results.
While Whole Foods’ management has definitely adopted a Theory Y management sytle, they refer to their management theory as Conscious Capitalism. This management style is “based on core values that promote making the world and lives of people better
