Comparing My American Dream

Both my idea of the American Dream and the boys’ ideas of the American Dream have similarities and differences. Even since the first thirteen colonies seceded from Great Britain in 1776, this land has been a beacon of light and hope for those looking for a fresh start. It did not matter whether they were trying to escape their homeland due to war or if they were just looking to start over, America was their chance to for the freedom to do what they wanted. This is where the “American Dream” arose from. According to Dictionary.com, the American Dream is defined as “The ideal that every U.S. citizen should have an equal opportunity to achieve success and prosperity through hard work, determination, and initiative.” While this definition may be true, I believe that there is much more to it. I believe that the American dream is different for each and every person. Literature is a great medium to see this idea in. The Luck of Roaring Camp by Bret Harte, Chicago by Carl Sandburg, and I Have a Rendezvous with Death by Alan Seeger are all example in literature of how the American dream can vary from person to person and does not have just one rigid definition.

What is the American dream? The American Dream to me would be a family, loyal husband, good paying job and most of all my health. But my perspective of the American Dream and other people/authors perspective could be viewed very differently. Frederick Douglass and F. Scott Fitzgerald both have very different views of their American Dream.

Why call it the American Dream, if all Americans are not included? The message about the dream and the dreamers, is that it is a peaceful neighborhood with no crimes, the dreamers are the white people who created the american dream. In the book Between the World and Me, Ta-nehisi Coates describes the American Dream. He says it is perfect houses with nice lawns.

What is your dream for america? The american dream is comprised of many things. It is made up of things that make america better. Not only that, it is made up of things that makes us americans. The main points of the american dream is hope for a better nation, Freedom, and diverse opportunities for all that come to america.

The dream that everyone always talks about. The dream that everyone strives for. The "American Dream" is what you might consider an "ideal lifestyles. " It can be full with happiness, love, money, meals, cars, some thing you wish for. One man or woman’s American Dream is also fully unique from anyone else’s, that is what makes us all individuals.

I The American Dream in my opinion means: safty, economical growth, and family reunion. First of all the American Dream is having comfortable debt free life has somehow deteriorated over the yeaars. Is safty here because no war,you go out in the park nobody is taking,watching. Everyere here is the police around,and when you have any problem I can tell them.For my son is more beter here because I can take care for him every day.In my country children playing outside the house,and nobady watching them.I go everyere with him.

To me, the american dream means stability and happiness. Within stability and happiness, you should be able to strive for what you can reach for with the opportunities provided for you. Opportunities may include jobs and education. My idea of stability is having enough money and survival necessities. Even though everyone might achieve the american dream differently, everyone is capable of achieving it. While some people are born into it, some have to work hard to achieve. To a certain extend, I have achieved the american dream because my family have always been financially stable, so I am stable. Even though I am happy now, I think that more happiness will come once I achieve things on my own.

To some the American dream can be making a lot of money or to be really famous or to just find a good job. According to Esther Goosens “the american dream is coming from another country, trying to achieve what you want, there’s not so many boundaries… that’s a lot of freedom and that makes me happy.” Also according Shayla Harris in “Defining the American dream” more people think they achieved their american dream now (2009) than had 4 years ago. Many people outside of America believe they can make their American dream a reality, and majority of them try to make that

The American dream, something that everyone strives to achieve. Some work harder than others, some have more resources than others. Some people reach their goals, some fall short. The American dream is something that most people will have a different opinion on. It might be a higher goal for someone than others. It really just depends on what your outlook is on life. Are you optimistic or pessimistic? It’s really up to you.

First, let's define "American Dream". "American Dream" is what you would consider a "perfect life." It can be full of happiness, money, love, food, cars, whatever you desire, everyone has a different opinion. One person’s American Dream may be totally different from someone else’s, that is what makes us all individuals. My American Dream would include a good job and lots of money, spare time for my family and I, and most importantly, healthiness.

The dream. The American Dream to me, means that anyone and everyone can come to America and have their dreams come true for them. That you can grow strong being in this county, we have a lot more opportunities handed to Americans that not all countries have. When I think of the american dream i think of other countries and how they try so hard to get to the land of the free and to get where we are today. They would do anything to be here. While people in america have most things handed to them, other countries don't, the jobs opportunities we have are limitless with just a little school and education we can get to where we need to be. The american dream is not just based for only americans it can be for anyone no matter the race, gender, ethnicity, religion, etc. We have different beliefs but it all leads to what? How are we going to get it? How long will it take me to reach my goal? And who is gonna be by my side when i’m trying to achieve this goal. The American Dream is opportunity, freedom, and education.

All in all, the American Dream is easily summed up as the goals any person sets out for himself. In order to achieve those goals he needs to have enough desire and willpower to put in the work; in other words, they have ambition. The American Dream varies among each person, and what needs to be done to accomplish it is different for each individual. Ambition is part of achieving the set goals because motivation and desire are necessary no matter what.

Everyone has their own dream. It could be the same dream others have, or it could be the complete opposite. I believe the American dream is not just one dream, it is whatever somebody wants it to be. Someone’s dream might not be perfect or even a dream at all to others, but as long as it’s perfect to them, it’s their American

My american dream is to be famous, married and living in new york. I would like to be an actress on broadway. I want to study theatre in a university and then move on to starring in productions. I would also like to be married. I want to live in a loft in new york, so it is easier for me to work.
