After reading both of these books, I can admit that they may have placed a lasting impact on my life.
To read about people that grew up around so much war and to hear of the abusive groups is astounding. I have learned about the Taliban growing up, I know that they are terrible, but to read from this perspective it shines a light on the reality of how awful they really are. To read this book and to see the progression of these groups and to see how they solidify their power is insane. Their power just continued to grow, and when that happens with these extremist groups, you know that only the worst is to come.
Even though A Thousand Splendid Suns did address the awful problems of living in Afghanistan during these awful times, I really

Mariam said, " A man's heart is a wretched, wretched thing. It isn't like a mother's womb. It won't bleed. It won't stretch to make room for you." This quote perfectly describes the attitude that Rasheed showed. He was cold.
Almost as cold, if not as cold, as the members of the Taliban.
Reading My Forbidden Face was harder. It was a more intense read for me. Latifa paid a lot of attention to detail and reading about the Taliban in this story made my heart ache. The story begun with the Taliban already in the city, unlike the other book, and to make it even more gruesome, it began with the death of President Najibullah.
I feel like that scene really set the mood for the book. Latifa had to give up so much, she fell ill, along with her mother who completely degressed throughout the whole book. My favorite quote from this entire book was, " True, rockets aren't raining down on us anymore, but the city is drowning in a deathly silence." To read this and to feel it is a slap in the face. Yes, they are safe from the rockets, they aren't in harms way, yet after all the hardships that they have faced over these years, things just can't spring right back into place. They
Hakim watched the American General writher around in a mask of pain. He looked away; he could not bear to watch this torment. Hakim knew he was not cut out to be a part of this merciless gang that everyone called the Taliban. But Hakim knew that the Taliban were not murderers. He was certain that what they did was only for the good of the people. They had never harmed anyone before. But all that changed with the humiliating and public death of the leader of the gang, his father.
Fast forward to 1995-6. Afghanistan is exhausted after several wars, leadership changes and the country's resources are depleting. A group of Southern Afghan men that fought against the Soviet Union decide to form the Taliban. The Taliban is formed as an Islamic militia to promote peace. They unofficially rename Afghanistan 'The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan'.
In the myth of Daedalus, adapted by an unknown author, a man let his emotions take advantage of his actions. Talus was placed with Daedalus so that he could learn Daedalus’s marvelous skills. Talus was better than Daedalus and Daedalus hated that. Daedalus’s hate and jealousy leads him to push Talus off a cliff.
Mining and processing activities could have commixing impacts on native environment and vegetation at Olympic Dam including air quality, groundwater, surface water and drainage, noise and vibration, terrestrial impacts and radiation etc. An underground mine implementing sublevel open stoping method with an integrated metallurgical processing plant are currently accommodated in the site. The Taliban—a Muslim fundamentalist group--first took control on the Afghanistan government in 1996, and even after the US-led invasion in 2001, they have maintained a strong influence in rural regions. When they first became present, many Afghans believed they would bring light to the years of corruption introduced by the Russians, and for a while that was true. The Taliban brought stability to Afghanistan, reduced infighting between warlords, and cracked down on the corruption that had been present in the government for many years. However, as years past the presence of the fundamentalist group changed Afghanistan and its people for the worse, displacing many people, and many Hazara, women, and children were murdered. Before Taliban arrive
"Afternoon, Harry!", Jones spits, his outstretched smile revealing pityingly repulsive teeth jutting out of his face like a pile of mildly-sculpted rocks stuck into the earth by a toddler. I give a slight nod, bringing my attention back to watering my browning larkspur plant I carefully nestled into the soil at the beginning of summer.
The Taliban took over the country in terms of the composition of society, such as education, mosques, religions, and shrines (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013). This group transformed Afghanistan and made it function how they wanted it to. The Taliban began to take over during Afghanistan’s civil war (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013). This group eventually became involved in the drug trade in order to generate revenue to support itself (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013). They provided training sanctions where propaganda also took place for soldiers who were not from Afghanistan (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013). The Taliban was in charge of the military operations throughout Afghanistan and conducting terrorist attacks (Spindlove & Simonsen, 2013). It is known that
It seems that War has found a home in Afghanistan. The people of Afghanistan have
The article chosen is from the New York Times. This article states how the Taliban shows no mercy to the Afghan country. The statistics show that in 2016 alone, 600,000 people migrated away from Afghanistan in order to get away from the brutal conflict in their hometown. For example, the Taliban has been taking major hits on the police officers in the provinces. In the middle of February, the Taliban attacked a police guard post on the outskirts of Lashkar Gah. The result of the attack was eleven deceased officers. The Taliban was stated to have stolen the victim's’ weapons and then blew up the post.
These two novels can be very eye opening to an individual because of many different
Taliban as an ideology is worst. This is simply a different story than the people in the West are apprehending it.
On September 27, 1996 the Taliban was formed. One problem, was they slowly changed rules and gained power until one day they would started killing people in the town square in front of everyone they would leave a note saying, “ if you go against Taliban,
Its activities were outgrowing. Although the Taliban said the government that its objective was to fight for the liberty of the civilians, it assaulted mainly the civilians. And many people would be killed, kidnapped, raped, tortured, and trafficked by the Taliban daily. Usually, the headlines would come that the members of the Taliban murdered such and such persons in the newspapers. Moreover, its activities shook the whole nation of Afghanistan, and the shocking truth was that many youths were attached to it by becoming its
The Taliban arose in Afghanistan at the beginning of 1994. They started to gain power after the Soviets had invaded Afghanistan in 1978 and left around the 1980’s. After the Soviet Union left Afghanistan the Taliban gained power resulting in a civil war. This rise of the Taliban was not a positive event in Afghanistan, it has caused problems that are still in occurrence today. Because of the Taliban the Afghan people are having to flee their country in order to be safe, or stay home and fight for their lives. The takeover of the Taliban in Afghanistan was a devastating time for the Afghan people and resulted in the loss of culture and a change of their social context.
The beginnings of the Taliban can be tied back to the Soviet defeat in Afghanistan. The defeat of the Soviet’s was due to collaboration among various tribal leaders. The Soviet withdraw and the shift in American foreign policy allowed the emergence of new rivalries and coalitions among different Afghan groups, such as the non-Pashtuns and Pashtuns, Sunnis v Shias, Ghilsais v Durranis and also among the Pashtun tribes themselves. The Soviet withdrawal, ultimately, led to a civil war among local warlords and created a vacuum of power for the Taliban to emerge. There are many variables for why the Taliban emerged, such as: rape, lack of government, looting, warlords, the misery of Afghan citizens, which all prompted the Taliban to disarm local populations and impose Sharia law. Mullah Omar, the leader of the Taliban, looked at the rape and the murder of boys, specifically, as a primary reason to form the Taliban (Akbar, 2015, pp.213-216).
