I now see myself as a writer who has learned new techniques to help improve my writing including style, word choice and the revision process. Even though I see myself as a improved writer, I still believe I have plenty of room for improvement.
Ever since I was young, I knew something was different about me. I’ve always had an active imagination and would write all kinds of stories, sometimes through pictures and sometimes through words. Not until I was in first grade did I notice my writing was different than my friends. It didn’t bother me though because I was too young to realize something was wrong; I was just different. One weekend, after playing restaurant with my mom and brother, my mom contacted my teacher to talk about some concerns she had with my reading and writing. She was told that I seemed to be progressing on an age-appropriate level with my peers and that nothing appeared to be wrong. But my mom persisted, and insisted that I be tested for a reading disability. My dad is dyslexic and my mom, knowing it can be passed down, was watching for the signs in my older brother first and now me. After testing, one of SV’s school psychologists announced that my results showed I had a learning disability. I then went to my pedestrian to talk about it and then to a special learning center in Sewickley for further
My history as a writer began ever since I was in school. I have always loved writing. I also love to read. I find it easy to express how I feel on paper. Language arts has always been one of my favorite classes in school.
Up to this point, the majority of my writing has been for school, and for informal uses among my peers. When I was younger, there was nowhere near the amount of typing and talking to friends as there is now. I believe that as
In the process of creating I learned that there can be multiple answers and perspectives from one question. There are different ways to approach a prompt that can be all be correct. The research paper also helped fill my knowledge with U.S. and Haiti intervention. I would definitely agree that my writing skills have improved since Freshman year. I learned to write more context and to not use certain words in my writings. My creative writing pieces have shown a deal of improvement as well. Compared to many that I did awhile back, my pieces are more creative and flow more. I have most certainly grown as a student and as a person.
I feel like my middle school writing career has improved with every writing project I have completed. As a writer I have changed over the years and have used many different tactiques in my essays. I have had strength in the ability to connect my idea with my evidence but I wish I could write a lot longer and more descriptive essays. I feel like my middle school writing careers has changed over the months.
From my very first assignment to my fourth I personally think that I have improved with my writing skills. The feedback that my peers and professor
As for college so far this year, my writing has improved. English 101 has taught me more about developing my papers than what I previously knew about writing. Revision is an important part when finalizing any of my papers. As I wrap up writing each essay, going back over it to make sure that it all the readers will understand the point of the paper. As this semester comes to an end, I am able to gain insight of structure through the significance of the PIE format, more organized ideas, and rereading sentences with correct use of grammar.
Throughout Middle School, I have become a much better writer than I was at the beginning of 6th grade. I remember back in 5th grade when I had to do a 4-page essay, I had issues getting over half a page. I made it but, it took a while. Now I can easily type up a quick 2-page essay. I have many strengths as a writer. Some of these are how fast I can write, and my ability to pad out sentences in a way that still adds something to them, while still making it longer. I still need lots of improvement, for instance, I am not the best with word choice or figuring out a proper sounding way to get my point across.
I 've grown in my writing and that makes me happy because I am getting better at it. The Habit of Heart and Mind that I think I 've improved most on is Write because I feel like I have got better at my writing and also my teachers that see that I have got better at it tell me that they also see that I am getting better at writing. A other one that I think I 've improved on is Read because I also feel that I have improved on my reading because I read faster and I don 't have trouble saying words so I know that I 'm getting better at my reading too. Another ones that I have gotten better at are Collaborate because I ask more questions now I 'm not that shy to talk in class when ever I need help on something I ask my teacher for help. Effort I have improved on that one because I have been putting a lot of hard effort in class I always try to do my best. I am most proud that I ain 't that shy in class because back then I wouldn 't like to talk. The most important thing that I 've learned so far is how to do essays that is important because it is something that is professional that could help me later on in the future when I get a job. Next year I want to take my English class more serious since the first day so I won 't be worry about it and also so my grade won 't drop like it happened this year.
When looking back at my freshman year I believe that my writing has developed and gotten stronger. When it comes to writing a task, I prefer doing writings that is opinion based. Being able to talk about issues and having a say on how you feel about it, gives
I feel I have come a long way my tenth grade year. My writing has gotten so much better and I can write essays of much better quality now. Things have gotten better like punctuation, thesis, and analysis.
Overall I think that my most of my writing habits have improved and for the ones that have not I know what they are and what I need to do to improve them. My strengths that I already had as
My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college.
Over the course of the semester, there has been numerous amount of areas where I believe I have improved in comparison to high school. What has helped me in my writing is the writing class and the in-class writing workshop. The writing class that is located in the Kremen education building has helped me with my writing greatly because in the writing center the person in charge teach us lenses and we apply those lenses to the writing, draft, or reading that someone brings in. The in-class writing workshop has helped me because other students get to read my writing. This is helpful because I get feedback from many students and they let me know what needs to be fixed. A new tool I have been using is They Say I Say. The book is very helpful because of the information and examples it provides such as the templates. I have been applying the templates into my essays and I have seen a significant difference.
