I have been preparing for my intended major for five semesters at Diablo Valley College. By the end of the spring semester of 2017, I will have earned at least 60 units that are required for a junior transfer. Within these units, I have completed several courses that are significant for a psychology degree, which is my desired major. Among these courses are Psychology in Modern Life, Life Span development and Research Methods in Psychology. Having taken a course in Life Span development, I am knowledgeable in psychological characteristics and personal/social developmental problems and opportunities. Not only that, but I 'm now more capable of addressing the aspects of human development such as physical changes, cognitive development, and social and personality growth. Other courses such as Psychology in Modern Life, which details the relevance of psychology to social processes, have given me a better understanding of the modern analysis of the social science that is psychology. And my very first psychology course, Introduction to Psychology, had imparted on me insight on the scientific study of behavior and mental processes. These courses are by no means the only courses in which I could enroll in to proceed to higher levels of education. For every semester I have enrolled in at DVC, I

It was just an ordinary day for Julia at work. She worked at the FBI as an investigator, but had not received a case in five weeks. Everyday, she thought about going on cool missions with her partner Sam, but he has been busy doing an investigation on this lady that claims she didn’t kill her daughter. All she did for the three weeks was sit at a desk and look up people for her coworkers to assist with their case. Looking up people can be very boring since there might be a long list of facts about he or she. One case required her to research a man named Mr. Gefish. She found out he is one of the most dangerous man in the US and is known for selling drugs. Later in the day, her boss, Mr. Smith told her to come to the briefing room because he has a new assignment for her. She was hoping for a chance to go undercover or find weird artifacts that links to a mystery.
What is propaganda? Propaganda is the spreading of ideas information or rumors spread deliberately to further one's cause or to damage an opposing cause. This concept can be really profitable and influential when utilized towards a community of people. It becomes even more efficient when it's employed in community filled with uncertainty. Before World War ll had begun most of Europe and Asia was going through a period of uncertainty with new ideas and new dictatorship for example, fascism, which had risen during the nineteenth century. In continuation, in the novel Making sense of Tyranny states “Accordingly there was little sense of that uncertainty and instability that characterizes life in the classical dictatorship.”(Simon Tormey). The quote documents how one of logical reason that dictatorship is displayed is when uncertainty takes place. In addition of uncertainty, the Great Depression was arising in the early 1900s, this gives another bulge of uncertainty. Moreover, uncertainty leads to more citizens believing anything and everything being said by anyone even if it's true or not which is the supremacy to efficacious propaganda. Now, during time of war the concept of propaganda can be highly beneficial. Propaganda was highly authenticate during World War II, it played a major contribution to war, and it's still in critical use till this day. So was propaganda the weapon that killed six million jews, and can genocide happen again?
Although all the topics covered in FYS are necessary to becoming a successful student the topics that affected me most were covered in weeks two, five, seven and eight. Week two covered the topic on what student student success means to me & understanding my learning style. These two topics affects me greatly because student success is very important to this journey and if I have an ideal image of what success means to me it will be an exact goal of what I want to accomplish at WCU and I believe that having plans and goals are the ultimate key in achieving success; they will serve as my outline and guidelines. The second half of week two covered learning style. It was noted that I am a visual learner. According to Felder & Solomon

UMUC offers numerous courses in Psychology so as to provide students with the knowledge that they will need in order to be successful in their future careers. The curriculum offered ensures that students acquire a knowledge base of theory, research, and practice in psychological sciences. Although some of the courses offered are required in order to obtain an undergraduate degree in Psychology, many are available to choose from that meet the interests and needs of each student as well. Upon graduation I plan to search for a job as a Childcare Director. Fortunately, the classes in psychology that I have completed have given me the knowledge and critical thinking skills that I need to be successful as well as given me a deeper understanding of how children develop and learn. The psychology courses that I have taken are:
With my ambition and perseverance, I overcame obstacles including severe migraines and self-doubt. I learned to focus on what I felt was best for myself and pushed through every hardship. Knowing that a large amount of my peers often do not think of a future after high school and endure obstacles of their own inspired me to take action and become a College Summit Peer Leader. Being a peer leader gives me the opportunity to take the experiences that I have learned so then I can encourage my fellow peers to face their obstacles head on and ultimately instill hope and guidance into their lives. I enjoy helping others with their life struggles which leads me to the decision that in the later future, I would love to study psychology. This will enable me to further understand other’s emotions and how to go by helping them through their
Taking a Psychology class has taught me a lot about others and myself. I have learned a lot in this class and the information I retained will stick with me for the rest of my life. The knowledge I have gained will help me in the future by allowing me to be a better actress, CEO, and mother. The most important topics I will need are Lifespan Development and Psychological Disorders. These subjects can be unknowingly important when crossing paths with other people.
As a student, I bring my natural curiosity and strong work ethic that has assisted me in my academic and professional life. I enjoy the active process of learning and look forward to beginning classes in this concentration. While earning my other degrees, I have been an active member of each class, seeking to understand the what, and how of topics studied. I am confident in my ability to complete the coursework required to earn the
The religion that I will be presenting is Christianity. Christianity was founded by Jesus Christ in the first century A.D. Jesus was born of a young virgin women named Mary, and her husband Joseph, a carpenter, in the town of Bethlehem. They then fled to Egypt to escape King Herod's decree that all young boys will be killed, and lived there for two years. Jesus then lived a fairly normal life until he turned 30, which is when He began His ministry. Jesus called 12 disciples, who would follow Him when He taught and preached to people. Jesus did this for three years, until it was time for Him to be crucified by the Romans. Jesus died by crucifixion, but rose again on the third day after His death. He then ministered to people for another 40 days, before ascending into Heaven. The news of Jesus spread throughout the known world, and even though many people were martyred for their faith in Jesus, Christianity has become the predominant religion in the world.
When starting off in any degree program you find yourself having to take a few introduction classes. These introductory classes get you into have a better understanding of how to be successful in any occupation you pursue. With any occupation you go into there is going to be at least one person or there might be multiply types of people you have to deal with. When you take this introductory course you find out that there is nothing wrong with people in the world. This course has changed me in so many ways over the past semester, ways as far as my procrastination and how it’s not good to procrastinate, and me not feeling embarrassed to actually talk about that and say that out loud because I wasn’t the only one in class to raise my hand in doing things at a pace and my time and not always on time. In this course I have learned so much about myself as well the other people in the classroom in different ways, more so than I ever thought I would, and with this knowledge comes a great responsibility. This class has basically taught me a self-evaluation on myself, now I know that sounds weird and unusual of how you can do a self-evaluation on your true self, because you are yourself but when this class first started I only expected to learn the very basics of psychology like the different approaches of psychology like behaviorism, and humanism. Not only did I learn about the essentials of psychology, but I also learned a great deal about myself and my past life experiences. This class has forced me to look deep within myself and confront my psychological demons as far as what am I doing wrong within myself and what do I need to work to get better at.
