Rihanna and T.I. song “Live Your Life” was based upon haters. People wanted what he had and went the wrong way of getting it. Some of the people hating on him were old friends and/or people he used to hang with, because he didn’t let them stop what he was moving towards. The song stated “you’re gonna be, a shinin’ star, in fancy clothes, and fancy car-ars” meaning don’t focus on the things you don’t have right now, those things are going to come later on in life.
The October Crisis that occurred in 1970 is quite a controversial topic, however, one can say that prime minister, Pierre Trudeau handled it quite well. Trudeau’s actions and decisions to resolve the October Crisis were justified. His actions were validated by the FLQ’s (Front de Libération du Quebec) intellectual ideas and the immediate threat he dealt with. Trudeau made quick political decisions to handle the calamity, however, the immediate crisis was impacting the cities across Quebec. His actions were proven to be the best and most accurate actions, because the War Measures Act was successful in eliminating the abrupt crisis. Pierre Elliot Trudeau was a man with good intentions, and as prime minister he dealt with the October Crisis in a way that ensured the safety of the province. Trudeau’s character and decisions, validates his actions to resolve the crisis in 1970.
Composition 1. Yaroslav Prostakov. Compare-contrast essay. I chose to write about “Respect” song which was released and recording by Otis Redding in 1965. And in 1967 it became a great song by a Aretha Franklin singer.
In the essay, “Hip-Hop’s Betrayal Of Black Women”(221), by Jennifer McLune, she vents her feelings regarding hip-hop songs that are rhythmically diminishing the value of black women. She provides example on how the lyrics are being voiced and how hip-hop artists do not seem to care. Kevin Powell in “Notes of a Hip Hop Head” writes, “Indeed, like rock and roll, hip-hop sometimes makes you think we men don’t like women much at all, except to objectify them as trophy pieces or, as contemporary vernacular mandates, as baby mommas, chicken heads, or bitches” (221). There have been apologizes for what the rappers have said but nothing to resolve the dehumanization of black women. McLune informs the readers that hip-hop singers belittle black women and make them invisible. Jay-Z, a popular hip-hop artist is brought to center stage by McLune. The essay shows the example of a part of Jay-Z song that says, “I pimp hard on a trick, look Fuck if your leg broke bitch hop on your good foot” (222). This lyric is a perfect example of how hip-hop artist have no remorse in the words they sing. The hurt feelings and loss of self-esteem black women suffer, is of no concern to the rappers. McLune expresses that those who are underground hip-hop artist follow the footsteps on being sexist and using crude words in their lyrics just because they yearn and dream of being in the spotlight. Upcoming rappers want to be loved like Jay-Z and other famous notorious rappers.

On verse one, Kendrick is speaking about someone, which I will explain further, whom is mistreating him and his family, on how this person was filled with arrogance and even dared to chase a better life than what he ever had. He also rants on how he never needed him and he will never need him. Kendrick was extremely mad at this individual and the amount of pain in his voice, you can sense the hatred he carried inside him. He quotes, “The world don’t need you, don’t let them deceive you. Numbers lie too, f*ck your pride too, that’s for dedication. Thought money would change you. Made you more complacent. I f*ckin’ hate you, I hope you embrace it.” This is a message from Kendrick to K. dots actions, which he fights a difficult battle in his
Fear is an emotion all animals feel, especially us humans. Everybody at some stage in their life has felt fear, it may be speaking to a crowd of people of even just hearing weird noises outside your window, some people have revealed their fears not just by talking about them but by singing. Lots of people around the world have written songs about how they were scared by something, but the best songs about fear are Cool Kids by Echosmith and Afraid by Motley Crue. These songs are the bests because they show how you can fear being left out and how you can fear about losing people you love.
“Hold on, hold on to me ‘cause I’m a little unsteady.” These lyrics from the song “Unsteady” by X Ambassadors relate to Madame Loisel from Guy de Maupassant’s short story “The Necklace.” Both the song and Mme Loisel struggle in life and are not comfortable with where they are in their current situation. Mme Loisel and the song cannot stand alone on their feet.
An another example representing a character in this song would be “You don't know what it's like to mind your business,And get stopped by the cops and not know if you 'bout to die or not ,You worry 'bout your life, so you take mine”(Joyner Lucas) which represents black people are three times more likely to be killed by police than white people, and in 2015, 30% of black people who were shot were
The song’s overall message is to emphasize the absurdity of belief that African-American people are predisposed to a criminal way of life due to their race, or, in other words - because of their DNA. The second line of the song goes “Loyalty, got royalty inside my DNA” (Lamar), where loyalty means being loyal to the African-American community, and royalty stays for the proud of being a representative of this community. In the next lines, Kendrick states that he is predisposed to violence and evil as they are encoded in his DNA: “Realness, I just kill shit ’cause it's in my DNA; I got dark, I got evil, that rot inside my DNA” (Lamar). Once again, it is needed to understand that these words are used with double meaning. Saying so, Lamar depicts the
Prince Royce is mainly trying to say that people should not judge or be judged by their physical appearance but by what they have and feel in their hearts. This song is trying to capture women who think they are not good enough. They think of themselves as something lower and have difficult time to see themselves but rather see what they don’t have. They feel not beautiful and have low self esteem. He also tells that he also is not perfect and that love never see faces but hearts.
And it sounds like how I want to live my life. “Never concerned with status, but still leavin’ them starstruck.” This is an example of how it reflects my goals, to not care what people think, but still leave them “starstruck.” This song explains how most people work with an ultimate goal of fame and glory, and to become known throughout history, but I believe that there are people who don’t always want that. Next, “Put it together himself, now the picture connects.
The lyrics of a song often have no substance and a clear example would be any Britney Spears song. The lyrics of “All Falls Down” are very deep. They talk about the ideal situation in life; We should go to school, get a good job and make money to buy what we want. The lyrics then ask, what if this doesn’t happen? This is prevalent in the first verse. “She has no idea what she doing in college. That major that she majoring, it don’t make no money.” The song questions these everyday values because we focus so much on these things, we don’t realize there are more important things in life such as life itself. Even Kanye admits that he spent money at Jacob’s Jewellery store before he thought about a house. “I went to Jacob with
The song “I Lived” is by the five group American pop rock band, One Republic. One Republic consists of the band members; Ryan Tedder, Brent Kutzle, Drew Brown, and Zach Filkins, who originally formed the band in Colorado in 2002. They have many top radio hit songs, but this song particularly stands out to me the most. “I Lived” represents me as a person and sticks out to me because it's about just living life to the fullest and taking every opportunities that come your way. I try to take chances and opportunities that come my way no matter what they are. This song also has the message to never give up on your achievements even if people bring you down.
Hip-hop appeals to an entire generation making it an important form of communication. In addition, Hip-hop can promote cultural awareness and the values of different people including genders. Many hip-hop artists promote their message through angry sounding music and lyrics. Latifah sends a unique message in hip-hop by promoting self-respect and dignity to women. Furthermore, Latifah’s song “U.N.I.T.Y” is free verse poetry that speaks out against the social injustice of violence towards women making it an important message in a time when violence and hatred seem acceptable.
