In The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare and "Pyramus and Thisbee" by Ovid are stories about teenagers who face obstacles that complicate the love story which causes them to make desperate decisions in the end. Both of them have many similarities. However, they have small details that are different. Throughout each story, these decisions lead to complicated endings. In the beginning, in Romeo and Juliet and "Pyramus and Thisbee" they both have similarities through the connections of objects. For example, in "Pyramus and Thisbee" it states, "In the wall both houses shared there was a little chunk." (Ovid 3) This is connected due to the fudges in both text. In both texts, both of the families are in a feud. This is also a similarity to Romeo and Juliet because both characters in each story had to sneakily communicate without getting caught by their families. Another object that the story can be tied to is the dagger/sword. For example, in "Pyramus and Thisbee" it states, "He drew his sword and plunged it into his side" (Ovid 4). The reasoning for this connection is that in both texts the way that the sword/dagger is used is connected. In both it was used to end one of the characters lives. …show more content…

For example, in "Pyramus and Thisbee" it states, "She plunged into her heart the sword that was still wet with his lifes blood." This is almost the exact same reasoning for the death of Juliet in Romeo. And Juliet, both female characters in each story, die because of the fact that they were too late for the love of their lives. For example, in Romeo and Juliet, it states, "Yea, noise?" Then I'll be brief. O happy dagger, This is thy sheath. There rust and let me die." Shakespeare 5.3. -. 169-170) This is when Juliet realized that she was too late to see the love of her life.
