The Five Faithful Sayings of the Pastoral Epistles for the Growing Christian
The Christian today, gets saved and then continues in his life without spiritual growth or nurturing. "Clergy assume that believers are familiar with the contents of those Bibles sitting on their bookshelves. They assume church members understand the teachings of other major religions and can hold thoughtful, respectful conversations about the differences between these faiths," states Patheos in reference to a Gallop poll. No real discipleship is present in the local church. However, five key points arise in the Pastoral Epistles. Paul wrote the five true and faithful sayings to Timothy and Titus as they pastored to churches; but the sayings have practical application for the growing Christian in the church, today.

The faithful saying is an interesting word

The expression "and worthy of all acceptation" expresses a more in-depth truth and emphasis on this statement showing the preeminence. "Came into the world" signifies the truth of Jesus' conformation in the form of a man in bodily form. "To save sinners" is the most selfless act described in Isaiah 53: 8. The main purpose for the immortal, invisible God (1 Timothy 1:17) to come in the form of a servant, in the form of a mortal man was to humble himself unto death, even the death on the cross.
A. Doctrine
Paul, writing to Timothy a pastor of the church at Ephesus, encourages him to hold fast the faith. H. B. Swete explained in his work "The Faithful Sayings," "In 1 Tim. 1, 15 πάσηςἀποδοχῆς ἄξιος is clearly a preamble, and the saying is attached to it by a recitative ὄτι." The first part is a prerequisite of the Christian walk, affirmation of salvation through faith in the blood of Christ. This passage continues in chapter two continuing the fact that God wants none to perish but for all to come to repentance and acceptance of salvation.

Paul’s distinctive contribution to Christianity is his heresy- the doctrine of salvation by faith. A salvation available not just to the descendants of Abraham, but to the pagan, non-Jewish world as well. When he was writing to those in the Roman capital, Paul makes the declaration that proved to be the cornerstone of all his writings Romans 1:16-17, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, ‘The one who is righteous will live
He wanted to build creatures that are capable of recognizing him, serving and loving him and this is when the world was created. And he created this to show the unity of his essence through his unity in his works. God “wanted to choose a subject to be a work of his own, which was unique, singular and unlike any other; rare and surpassing all the other works of his hands.” (pg 111). This subject would have a perfect relationship with God and a perfect relationship with his own unity. This is all known as the mystery of the Incarnation. Out of all the different natures God choose human nature to receive his greatness. He chose only one and that is the “Son of God”. Jesus is stated as a world. We adore in Jesus the “unity of a divine person” who exists in two natures and who serves the supreme unity of the divine
For many years the Apostle Paul and his pastoral leadership has given me great insight as to how live life daily. His missionary journey’s as God’s representative has had great influence on my own theological thought and preservation of my faith. The book of Colossians is filled with stories of redemption, knowledge and the power of prayer. The Apostle’s extraordinary life from darkness to light can only be attributed to the Grace of the Lord.
Paul's letters to the church, also known as epistles, are considered some of the most important documents in the New Testament. Paul's writings continue to shape and forge church even today. His letters were written in some of the darkest, most intense moments of Paul's life, but they also celebrate the grace, love, and life changing power of Jesus. Paul's journey in faith is shown in raw, unapologetic honesty, and inspires Christians to maintain a forward momentum, and to run the race Paul speaks so passionately about in Hebrews 12:1. Paul is able to write with both confidence and humility as he writes about the Christian journey.
The producers of the 2006 film “She’s the Man” sought to dissect the difference of treatment towards males and females through requiring their audience to analyze the male and female dynamics. Through the use of having one person pose as two separate genders, they create the ultimate comparison. This is done through making the female version of the character a debutante which symbolizes a very girly representation. When viola poses as her brother, Sebastian, she is free enough to be more open and accepted into the soccer lifestyle. Giving prominence to the contrast between femininity and masculinity proves how gender is learned and is only bifurcated because people in authoritative roles create the juxtaposition.
Paul stated " Christ is our confidence, our motivating power." Paul was always relying on Jesus for whatever obstacle came his way. In the letter to the Philippians Paul talks about having confidence in the flesh, this is having faith in what Christ says. Paul goes though all that he had to go through and explains what he has done in Philippians 3:4. "Confidence in the flesh is what happens, when men claim they are good and right because of their connections", "Confidence in the flesh is what happens, when you claim to be sound because of what you oppose", "Confidence in the flesh is what happens, when we rest on past achievements."
In this letter Apostle Paul showed how great his love was for the church of Philippi, showing his gratitude for their financial support to further the work of the ministry and to express his concern about their spiritual walk. His only thought was about advancing the cause of Christ and building the Philippians’ faith to continue their mission in spite of the persecution they were facing. Within their church many of the people were at odds and some were trying to hinder the spread of the Gospel. Because of this, Paul encourages the church of Philippi to "stand fast, be of the same mind, rejoice in the Lord always but by prayer let your request be made known and the peace of God shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (4:1-7).
The proposed research project will use a qualitative exploratory case study approach. In this connection, review of disaster case studies already conducted such as flood disastrous events that have affected the Blood tribe in southern Alberta will offer insights to look at the Kashechewan case from a different
3. Paul says what everybody has to do to stay away from the evil and sin, and closer to the Lord. (6:14-16)
The unsteadiness of our Anointed leaders that are suppose to preach the Kingdom of God to the congregants, has led to the tolerance of sins in the Holy Sanctuary.
Paul wrote letters to churches and went on long, dangerous journeys in order to share the Word. Humbly serving the Lord, no matter what the cost, he became a disciple who made disciples. His personal, deep relationship with Timothy reveals the kind of atmosphere and level of commitment required in discipleship. The discipleship model Paul follows allows for a personally invested relationship between any amount of gathered people whether it be an entire church congregation, a small group, or
Barne’s notes from Bible Hub starts off talking about a charge that was made to Timothy, to be faithful in preaching the gospel, and be faithful with everything else that is involved in the ministry. The reason this charge was given was, that the time was coming when men would not listen to the Word of God, but would turn and listen to what they want to hear. So therefore, Timothy in his work was urged to be faithful, and to be ready to go through the trials, and handle those trials in the proper way that a faithful minister would.
1 and 2 Timothy and Titus, also known as the Pastoral Epistles, attempt to describe proper hierarchy in the early church. They reject the idea of having women being significantly involved in the community. Libertarian theology interprets Christianity through the viewpoint of the poor. Leftist theology is a more liberal political party. It advocates equality and rejects the idea of social hierarchy. These three ideas were considered heterodidascalia, or “the other teachings,” in the early church (Menendez, 185). The Pastoral Epistles attempted to limit the number and type of people who could have power and authority, and they did this by “[addressing] specific church leaders and [targeting] specific groups” (Menendez, 186). By narrowing the gap between the secular and religious groups, it is possible to “deepen the national dialogues” (Menendez, 187). Based on the conservative, Pastoral interpretations of 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus, there is no room for equality amongst the people and it seems to me like they are taking certain rights away from these different groups of people. If the Pastorals were more sensitive to the three issues stated above, it could allow a better understanding between the state and church.
From the NIV, “I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline. So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.” (2 Timothy
The purpose of this essay is to describe my personal experiences during my part on the family assessment and goal planning which was the section pertaining to me specifically. Additionally, I will reflect over the family experience as opposed to the Dyad. I will analyze my expectations of the assignment prior to starting it and my perception after finalizing it. I will touch base on my experience while role-playing as both part of the family and as the social worker portion of the experience. Lastly, I will summarize my strengths and weaknesses and the areas of growth I identify that I need to develop as I see it fit to my professional growth.
