Although there are little similarities there are also many differences. Like for example. In America there is The Wake, Funeral Service, and Burial which is normal like people go to a Wake to to honer and see the dead body. Funeral Service is to say your finally goodbyes and love you to the dead body and to just be with the body the last and final on is a burial and it’s when the body is buried and gone. But in mongolia on the other hand it’s a whole new story like Instead of a wake the family will keep the body for a week, month, or a year (depending on social rating). Instead of a funeral service families believe in killing a water buffalo in front of a guest of people so the body is actually dead. Lastly for a goodbye the body is “sky burial”
Mongolia is a landlocked, central Asian country, between China and Russia, with many mountainous and desert areas. The climate in Mongolia can be very extreme, with droughts in the summer and heavy snow in the winters. Mongolia gained its independence in 1921, and was declared a socialist nation, until the late 1980s, since around 1990, the country has had a type of free market economy. There are branches similar to the United States, where there is a president, prime minister and cabinet in the executive, some members of parliament in the legislative branch and a constitutional court in the judicial branch. The government in Mongolia is fairly new and not incredibly developed. The capital of Mongolia is Ulaanbaatar, and about 45% of all of Mongolia’s population lives there. The population of Mongolia is young; the majority of the people are younger than 30 years old. The population’s social structure is mostly differentiated by the increasing gaps between the amounts of wealth people have, unlike the past where it had more social hierarchies of clans and tribes. Some of the main industries in Mongolia today are food processing, leather goods, carpets, and mining (specifically coal), all of these industries were built under the old socialistic practice of the country. In the past, Mongolia’s main trading partner was the Soviet Union, now the country trades items like livestock, various animal products and metals with 25 different countries specifically its neighboring
According to an essay written by Jessica Mitford titled “Embalming in the U.S.A” states that the mass population in the United States have lost interest of embalming over the years. She later proves this by saying “not one in ten thousand has any idea what actually takes place and books on the subject are extremely rare to come by”. She later goes on saying that America has made a complete reversal on how the treated the Embalming. In the old days of America it was mandatory for one of the family members of the deceased to stay with the mortician while he carried on his business. Now in these the majority of people cannot stand the sight of blood. As the essay continues Jessica later states how She under stands
Burial Rites by Hannah Kent is a story of a woman, Agnes Magnusdottir, fighting against society’s opinion of her as she struggles to redeem herself. Agnes is portrayed as a woman who is struggling against the patriarchal system that seems to imprison her. The audience is positioned to feel sympathy for Agnes throughout the novel as she explains her harsh childhood through her conversations with Toti. We are also positioned to feel sympathy for her as Kent describes the way that she is treated by the men in her life, particularly Blondal and Natan. By the end of the novel the audience is positioned to feel angered by how Agnes is forced to struggle through to her final breaths with very little sympathy shown to her by the dominant characters
The text Burial Rites written by Hannah Kent focuses on the true story of the last woman to be executed in Iceland, her punishment for playing part in the murder of two men. Cremation and burial services are among the most common choices for American post-mortem body disposal (NFDA, 2017). Though the population of the United States is continuing to grow, observing increases in funeral rates, the number of active funeral homes has significantly decreased within the past ten years (NFDA, 2017). This could be due to the extreme shift in American practices, from a traditionally religious population to a more environmentally aware and loosely religious society (Fleming, Farquhar, Brayne, Barclay, 2016; Pew Research Center, 2015). Because of the general shifts in the prioritization of traditional practice, funeral homes should be better equipped -especially in cremation services- to suit the needs of the evolving disposal preferences of all demographics through observation of holistic
There was more than enough room to travel around the rooms. Every room had extra space if the person was in a wheelchair, scooter, or had a walker. This extra room allowed accessibility to all individuals who visited the funeral home.
We, as humans, often get involved only with the issues that affect us or our environment. Furthermore, sometimes we do not see what is happening around us that affects the rest of the society. The article “Drugs are killing so many people in West Virginia that the state can’t keep up with the funerals” by Christopher Ingraham discusses the fact that in West Virginia, the amount of deaths caused (mostly) by overdose has increased so much in recent years that their indigent burial program has ran out of funds to cover funerals for people that do not have the funds to pay for
Some ways that Mongolia and American christian funerals are alike is that they both embalm the body before burial. They both have flowers for the funeral. In Mongolia how many flowers they bring is based on whatever class that they are in. Low classes have one flower, middle classes have a few flowers, and high classes have a whole lot of flowers. Another thing that they both believe that there is an afterlife. Also they both have somber occasion. Another thing is that they have respect for the person. Both of them have a will sort of thing. In Mongolia before the person they get to pick a bull to sacrifice when they die. In America you can pick how to do the funeral and where all do your belongings go also you pick where you are buried. In both places they pray during the service. Those are some of the reasons why Mongolia and the United States funeral customs are similar.
Today was funeral day. My mom’s funeral. It was a dark October thursday, the clouds were brewing a storm. A slight breeze disturbed my neck. My uncomfortable suit sleeves bellowed in the cold breeze.. I hadn’t felt any emotions since the day of her death, which was weeks ago, almost as if my emotion is grey. It was warm then, as my mind was too. Nowadays, up until today, my mind has been a dark fog, as if my mind was released into the sky, darkening everyone’s day, arriving at my mom’s funeral or just to cuddle up with their friends and family in front of a warm crackling fire, telling the stories of their childhood and how times were better. Not me, my dad usually ignored me and he only worked on managing my mom’s fortune. Yeah. My mom’s
Although the products and services offered in the movie Jobs differs from funeral services, there are some correlations between how each business functions. For example, the Apple business is managed and marketed in a similar way to funeral services. Some of the similarities include; how the four P’s of marketing are used, the importance of branding, and how advertising is used.
It’s assumed that people have knowledge of what is appropriate planning for life after death, but nobody is ever prepared; and that is why preplanning is necessary. Death and dying is a part of life nobody likes to discuss, plain and simple, it makes us uncomfortable. This is a major contributor to why no one plans ahead. Nobody likes to think about death, it isn’t a pleasant thought to most of us. However, unfortunately, in our lifetime, avoiding a funeral is inevitable.
Although there are many ways to dispose of one’s body when one dies, cremation is more logical than burial; therefore, cremation should be more widely used rather than using burial as a way of disposal.
Mankind’s history of burial practices and funeral customs are as old as civilization itself. There is no specific way to planning a funeral. Every civilization and culture has provided for their dead in different ways. Religion and personal beliefs play an important role in the burial practices and funeral customs of a given culture or civilization. Furthermore, each civilization and cultured ever studied have three things in common: some type of funeral rites, rituals, and ceremonies; A sacred place for the dead; and memorialization of the dead. As far back as the time of Christ, burials have been noted to take place. In time burial and funeral customs have become very distinct, interesting and
Amy is having difficulty with depression as well. She is unable to move to the last stage of grief, acceptance, until then she will be stuck in the same stage, reliving the same emotions over and over until she is able to cope with the feelings that were aroused
Today the society is looking for ways to ease life and to find solutions for problems which oppress our lives and make it hard to live through. Because of many reasons, the traditional burials in this century are becoming a problem. (Prothero,2001). The fact that they cover a lot of land to build cemeteries and other things that are attached to these traditional burials is enough for us to search for a practical solution. About a century ago the term "cremation" was unknown to many people. It is believed that it began to be practiced during the early Stone Age and still exists today. Since that time cremations have been made all
