While in the Islamic Empire, there were not many ways in which a slave could be free, females were confined to their fate as they wouldn’t have anywhere to go, the place in which she may have come from would be conquered by Muslims and most times she’d have children. In America, you’d have more chances at freedom, when the Revolutionary war struck, a slave could simply enlist in the British army if it controlled the area a slave was in, and at the end of the war the British evacuated the freedmen to British/British-occupied land.
