Despite modern medical technology, diseases and disorders still manage to threaten mankind. While cancer, epilepsy, and autism should be thoroughly researched, the illnesses that are often overlooked are those of the mind. Thoughts and emotions are often dismissed as unimportant to our everyday lives as they are merely internal disorders hidden from the external world. However, those people suffering with these diseases and disorders don’t know they have it or don’t know how to handle it; they aren’t aware these disorders can be treated just as other disorders with the right treatment such as medication, therapy, or just talking with friends and family. As anxiety and depression are progressing in today’s society, it’s becoming more crucial for the general population to understand how anxiety, depression, or the combination of the two affects the health of those afflicted with these disorders.
Anxiety alone is not one type of disease or disorder; it contains a variety of different types of diseases and disorders. Some examples of those disorders would be generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), social anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Focusing more specifically on generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), it is defined as being in a perpetual state of worry. An article by “Harvard Women’s Health” goes on to describe that “Exaggerated worry about health, safety, money, and other aspects of daily life that lasts six months or more” is a part of having GAD (Harvard Women’s Health 8). Anxiety has both mental and physical effects, it is our internal alarm system to put our mind on a physical alert and prepares for us a "fight or flight response". This alarm can go away when we know that everything is okay and there is no danger nearby or nothing is going to happen but sometimes our alarm will not shut off and then an anxiety problem persists. Many people feel apprehensive and miserable every now and then, but when does it take over their whole lives? Losing a loved one, doing poorly in school or work, being bullied and other hardships might lead a person to feel sad, lonely, scared, nervous and/or anxious. Some people experience this on an everyday basis, sometimes even or no reason at all. Those people might have an anxiety disorder, depression, or both. Anxiety is a disorder with uncontrollable, excessive, and persistent worrying occurring on more days than not over a six month period (Baldwin, 2016). This type of anxiety is known as generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) with a minimum of three or more of the following symptoms: Easily fatigued, difficulty with concentration, muscle tension, sleep problems, and feeling hyper or restless (Dunphy, Winland-Brown, Porter, & Thomas, 2015, p. 1028). In today’s world, anxiety is a normal part of life, but there is an abounding amount of people who honestly have been diagnosed a different type of an anxiety disorder. Anxiety is basically over thinking, in a nutshell, it’s honestly just the fear of not knowing what is going on or what’s going to happen next or in life. In my opinion, if you are stressed, you can walk around the house, the office, the street that you like it, or anything........to be honest or special, you can walk in the night, because i think the air in the night different in the afternoon.......or maybe you wanna tried in the morning......that's okay to forget your stress and make your body healthy.....but i think most people will make the highest strees in the night, because of traffic jam, tired of the work, angry to the client, or the homework is so hard......then you can walk until your body or your mind is relax
