As a new middle school student, I am put through challenges everyday from teachers. From homework to quarterlies, there is a pile of assignments. This can be new for some students. It is still new to me, and I have had it for over nine weeks! There are many differences between the middle school and elementary school. Some school didn’t have classes that switched. At Milltown, we were taught to go to classes other than our grade teacher. At Milltown, we had Mr. C and Mrs. Holly to help us get ready for seventh grade. We would switch between classes, and get homework from both of them. The kids don’t switch teachers six times a day at elementary schools. Also you don’t have four minutes at elementary to get everything ready. At elementary
Young men who are sent to a war learn the reality in a very harsh and brutal way. Both the stories, ‘The Red Convertible’ and ‘The Things They Carried’ portray the life of a young soldier and how he psychologically gets affected from all the things he had seen in the war. Tim O’Brien’s ‘The Things They Carried,’ is more specific on the experiences of a soldier during a war where as Karen Louise Erdrich focuses more on describing the post war traumatic stress in her short story ‘The Red Convertible’. One thing similar in both the narrations is the Vietnam War and its consequences on the soldiers. From the background of both the authors it’s easy to conclude that Tim O’Brien being a war veteran emphasizes more on the
A vignette from The House on Mango Street, "Those Who Don't," by Sandra Cisneros, the poem "My Parents Kept Me from Children Who Were Rough," by Stephen Spender, and another poem "We Real Cool," by Gwendolyn Brooks share many similarities and differences. These three pieces of literature talk about racism and rough children. "Those Who Don't" is about racism and how people think about others without getting to know them. "My Parents Kept Me from Children Who Were Rough" explains how a good child wants to be like other children who are bad. "We Real Cool" talks about pool players who are bad. These pieces of literature compare and contrast between figurative language, point of view, and theme.

My first day in middle school didn’t seem that much different than elementary school only thing that was different was that we switched classes but we had our teachers telling us where to go for our next classes so it wasn’t hard. On like the third day of middle school I was very confused because we had all the big 7th and 8th graders there and the teachers weren’t helping us and telling bus where to go anymore so I would be late to class and my teachers would be mad. It was hard for me to transition to having several teachers instead of one because all of my teachers were very different we had some teachers that were cool and then we had some strict teachers. The work didn’t get much harder math did but not any other subjects, math was very difficult
With all of these responsibilities and classes I feel as though I am always juggling many things at once. Along with that I have found that at the Middle School age your students may not want to admit that they need you, but they truly need you as much if not more than in Elementary School. They are developing into the person that they will be in their lifetime. They are discovering themselves, while also going through so many physical and emotional changes.
In schools that switch, teachers play a big part in making sure kids learn each subject. Teachers have the opportunity to focus on just on one subject, rather than all of the subjects. In Source 2, “When a teacher teaches the same lesson throughout the day, he or she can ensure that students fully understand the material. The lesson may be of higher quality since the teacher only has to prepare one outstanding lesson to teach several times each day”(Source 2). This is because teachers have more time to really explain this one subject to all of the students. Teachers, who have to teach all of the subjects, may not be explaining each subject thoroughly because they don’t have enough time to prepare for many different subjects.
As a typical All American twelve year old girl, Mallory Grossman participated in gymnastics, cheerleading, and made jewelry by hand to help raise money for children with cancer. Mallory was known to be a good student and popular within her group of friends. On June 14, 2017, Mallory committed suicide. This was the day her mother would not get to hug her child anymore, the day her smile would no longer be seen, the day her classmates lost a friend. No one saw this coming, because Mallory seemed a cheerful, untroubled girl who had a bright future ahead of her. The only problem was the relentless bullying that came her way through the use of social media outlets such as snapchat or instagram. Some girls in her middle school used Snapchats features
Whenever I first began middle school, I was well aware of the new and divergent obstacles I would come across. The classes would become more advanced, teachers more strict, and lunches more disgusting. During my 6th-grade year, this change became clear. As my homework was piling up, so was my stress. Balancing school, sports, and family time had never been an unchallenging task, but I never have and never will let that be the reason for my grades to drop. The immense amount of effort I put into school is one consistent quality I possess that will never disintegrate, as opposed to what one teacher said.
How do experiences, good or bad, shape the identity of an individual and make them stand apart from others? In the award winning novel A Complicated Kindness, by Miriam Toews and the classic best seller Anne of Green Gables, by L.M Montgomery, the struggle and desire to find personal identity is profound. Through a series of experiences, the main characters in each novel, one a rebellious Mennonite and the other a red headed orphan, are forced to look within themselves and realize one of the most commonly asked question, “who am I?” As both Nomi and Anne grow internally, not only do they find gratification for themselves, but they also allow others to be set free in the same way. From the beginning of the book to the
Do you think that middle school is harder than elementary school? In elementary school, students generally have one teacher that teaches most if not all subjects. In middle school you must switch classes to different teachers. Middle school is definitely harder because you have only three minutes to switch classes.
In high school, middle school and elementary school many things are the same but many things differ. Some of the things that change may include how hard the class are and how the teacher handles it, the actives given by the teachers and the life skills the students learn or will learn with that teacher. When learning, the classes tend to build on each other for example in elementary school the classes tend to be easier than the classes in middle school and then in high school the classes are harder than middle school. In high school, middle school and elementary school the classes of course will get harder depending on the students grade level and teacher.
Upon my transition to middle school, I was 10 years old. In my case, elementary school ended at 5th grade and middle school started at 6th grade. A variety of changes occurred throughout the day, including switching classes between different subjects, adjusting to a different grading system, and following the dreaded uniform policies the school had established. Many strengths and weaknesses about the school became evident throughout the first semester. The school offered an assortment of elective courses that a student could choose from, including music (orchestra, band, and choir), art, and computer programming. This mixture of courses offered students the opportunity to become well rounded in terms of intelligence. Furthermore, the school offered challenging programs for gifted students, such as EXCEL courses, which represented a fast-paced learning environment for an array of subjects, such as math, science, and social studies. As
For most elementary students, the thought of moving onto middle school is very intimidating. Parents and teachers love tell the students that middle school will not be as easy as elementary school. The teachers at Sts. Peter and Paul told us that the kids from the public school were horrible people and we had to be careful around them. They also told the kids about the horrors of bullies, huge papers, and a new confusing building; however, I was still ready to leave elementary schools because I hated going to a private school. I saw middle school as an opportunity to meet new friends and experience a less restricted school day.
Middle School Experiences – This is the stage where a child is developing mentally and physically, so it is important to maintain a good working relationship with the student that promotes learning new ideas and improving those skills that are not quite where they need to be. At this age, reading and learning is a thought
