As time ticked away in the fourth quarter, the Denver Broncos started working on running the clock down. They ran the ball as much as they could then would punt the ball down the field and count on the Broncos defense to keep Cam Newton from getting the Panther offense going. And it worked. Von Miller, who was so big for Denver’s defense in the first half, caused Newton to fumble and the Broncos recovered the ball on the four yard line.
As Drew and Andie, came over to my dad and me, we were talking about how they got tickets also. Andie got the tickets from a friend. The teams came out of the tunnel and the second half was about to start. The first two minutes of the second half, UNI did not look very good as they were down 45-34. UNC shot the ball really well which put UNC up 50-34 with 17:13 left to play. I thought that UNI was still going to make a great comback into this game, and they did. Matt Bohannon made a three pointer as well as Paul Jesperson with two three pointers and trimmed UNC´s lead to seven at 50-43. ¨Here we go!¨ Jeremy Morgan made a three pointer and the score was 54-48. It just got even better. Wes Washpun got two layups and trimmed the lead to two. ¨Let´s go!¨ There was a TV timeout with 11:32 left to play, but there was a UNC foul. Jeremy Morgan got two free throws and made one for two. UNC would commit another personal foul, and Matt Bohannon had a chance at the free throw line and made one for two also. The game is tied at
Martin converted the conversion run to make this a,32-6 game. The other play on the drive came on a seventy-four-yard run by Dorrick Conner.
The stage was set, an all-out brawl between Notre Dame and Boston College at a frigid eleven degrees. The contest started with a swift Touchdown after a 63 yard drive dominated by passing. Flutie executed what seemed as a perfect drive except for the PAT. Boston’s kicker slipped on the frozen turf and the kick was blocked. ND quickly responded with their own TD and the games’ only completed PAT. After this point it became worse and worse for the BC Eagles. Most of their problems were special teams related. By the half BC was down 19 to 6.
A kick from Anderson started the game, not long after, QB Lucas Smith runs a 18yd touchdown, starting the game out with a 7-0 Turpin lead. The Redskins’ Kyle Blaha soon persevered through the unforgiving Turpin defense and ran a 2 yd touchdown, evening out the score out 7-7. “Our offense and defense did well, but there’s always room for improvement.” Coach Kenter explained after Turpin gave up 21 points in the first half. “But I think this was one of better games of the entire season, the team really brought it.” Second quarter brought both the Spartans and Redskins 2 new touchdowns each and an exciting 65 yard pass Turpin touchdown, Smith to Will Hausfeld. Halftime stopped the intense game at a suspenseful score of 21-21.
At this point, the wheels came off of the Panthers wagon and GSU scored 16 unanswered points. GSU got things going and the momentum changed in their favor. Kincade connected with Chad Williams on a 13 yard passed to make the score 16-7 with PAT by Jonathon Wallace with 2:42 in the first quarter. At this point, both teams were going back and forth. Several turnovers occurred. Until, Kincade and GSU got their groove on with an 11 yard run for pay dirt. Jonathon Wallace successfully completed the PAT to make the score 16-14 in favor of PVAMU at the 10:39 in the second quarter. GSU would score again before the half when PVAMU’s Lorin Winston couldn’t handle a high snap and push the ball out of the back of the end zone for a safety. That tied the score at 16-16 all with 2:00 minutes left in the half.
We had the six point lead with only three minutes left, and we were confident that our defense would hold them as we had all day. The first play of the drive resulted in a long touchdown from none other than the running back. They decided to go for the one extra point to take the lead, and they converted with ease. We were tired and worn out, and we failed to score again. I was aggravated.
I went to see a great game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. First they started to flip the coin when Packers called tails and it landed on tails and they chose to receive. The Dallas kicked and Packers gained 19 yards. Then they lost 5 yards or -5 because they got tackled behind the line of scrimmage and its now 2nd and 15. The Packers threw the ball 10 yards and they caught the ball and gained 12 and now have a first down. 1st quarter was over and Green lost 18 yards or -18. Green Bay threw the ball and Dallas intercepted the ball picking up 12 yards before being tackled.
“Sunny and 75 with bright blue skies today is a great way to start off the college football season”, says a sports analyst on the tv from a tent in the tailgating section. Walking down the strip peeking through the trees seeing a glimpse of the arena reminded me of a modernized colosseum. Approaching the main entrance greeted by a metal statue and a stadium with a dark shade of brick with countless of doors and glass windows. Many Lovie Smith propaganda is seen around the stadium along with the array of Illinois gear. “Welcome to Memorial stadium, it’s game day for your Fighting Illini”, said the announcer. My stomach dropped for the fact that college football is officially back.
When the game got started Taft's defense gave up a 17-yard catch by Blayze Taylor, on a nicely thrown ball from
After we punt the ball they get it and on the next two plays they score a touchdown. The offense is out on the field again and we start on about the twenty yard line. Once again we go three and out so I have to punt the ball.
“FUMBLE! Bo Wallace fumbled in the end zone!”, yelled the announcer at Davis Wade stadium in Starkville, Mississippi. The 2013 Egg Bowl was truly a remarkable event for me that I will never forget.
Deshaun Watson to Jordan Leggett for 6 and the Tigers strike first to take the lead. Then, after a 3 and out by the Clemson defense, BOOM! Deshaun Watson to Artavis Scott for 6! Clemson was now up 14-0 at this point, in the second quarter. Notre Dame was able to get a field goal right before the half to make the score, 14-3 Clemson at halftime. The rain was coming down at a steady pace while Notre Dame’s heart was slowly being ripped apart. Then all of a sudden, BANG! Deshaun Watson totes the rock for another Clemson touchdown! This made it 21-3 Clemson in the third quarter, and the game seemingly seemed over. But wait…… the Fighting Irish came back with a vengeance. Notre Dame slowly but surely clawed back in the game and at the blink of an eye, the game came down to a 2-point conversion. It was 24-22 Clemson and overtime was decided between 2 and a half yards. The Irish ran a QB draw with Kizer and BOOM! He was stonewalled by Ben Boulware and the rest of the Clemson defense! Clemson would hang on and defeat the Irish, 24-22, in thrilling fashion! All hail the Clemson Tigers! BYOG! ALL
Andre stutters, "Ok guys lets go for tie and kick-k-k a field goal..." The team breaks and sets up. Smack! Up,up,up and......... The ball falls short and the bench loses the game. The bench mopes off the field, heads down, shoulders slumped. Meanwhile, the starters strut confidently of the field.
A funny thing happened on that particular Sunday. Tim Tebow was quick and decisive from the opening whistle. He was accurate - his passes tried and true. Scanning the field with confidence, the second year quarterback took command of a game that many thought would be impossible. Tebow threw for 316 yards on this frigid Colorado day. He cut the cold winter wind with four long balls to Demaryius
