Compensation Management for Wal-Mart Supercenter Compensation is broadly described as any payment or reward that is given to an individual for services performed. Generally, compensation is not restricted to direct or indirect financial incentives since it includes monetary and non-monetary elements. From an operational perspective, managers define compensation as the package of financial rewards that includes salaries, bonuses, wages, commissions, and insurance as well as other kinds of indirect monetary benefits that are given to workers in exchange for their services. However, workers basically describe compensation more narrowly in terms of salary or wages obtain from an organization for the services or work they carry out. Since compensation is an important aspect of human resource management in an organization, organizations have established compensation programs. These programs have three major objectives including attracting adequate number of qualified employees, retain workers, and motivate employees to perform to full potential.
