It is important to ensure that we meet the need of the students on every level. One effective way to do this is to observe, assess, and record children’s efforts and progress. In this way, an educator can prepare to help a child’s progression in the class. Being able to track and refer to the progress of a child helps to ensure greater levels of success. In the end, our program is only as successful as the children in our care. Record keeping can identify areas that need improvement, and allows us to teach to their strong points.
It is important to maintain a safe environment for students inside and outside of the classroom. My goal is to make sure that the children understand what being safe is. I make sure that they know how to play safe. All of the toys and the materials that the children use are safe. I make sure that there are no broken toys that may harm them around. The children along with me create the class rules. I make sure that the outlet plugs are in place and that the cabinets are secure. The children follow the classroom rules. Providing physical and emotional security for each child and helping each child to know, accept, and take pride in him or herself while developing a sense of independence is my responsibility as a child caregiver. Part of my responsibility is treating each child as an individual and promoting their own strengths and needs as they grow. To encourage growth in each of these areas I use books, pictures, stories, and discussions to help children identify with positive events and experiences in their lives. I help to ensure each of my children feel love, affection, and security through consistent encouragement and positive reinforcement.

Alex informed the team I am going to sleep at night, but I have to wake up to early to catch the bus. Alex stated, “Mrs. Telisha has been giving me Melatonin to help with my sleep.” Alex’s foster mother shared with the team, “Alex have mood swings frequently.” “Alex commented, “I am ready to go home.” Alex’s foster mother reported, “Alex is very helpful; however, he continues to try to take care of the children.” Alex acknowledged, “I am proud of the progress I made, so I feel like services should end.” Alex’s listened as the QP shared it is important for him to have services when he return home in 3 months to address barriers and prevent a relapse. Alex has made minimal progress with stabilizing his mood, as indicated by Alex having mood swings while in his foster family’s house and getting adequate sleep and having a stable appetite.
I have a CNOR certification. Therefore, the organization I picked is Competency and Credentialing Institute. It provides CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse), CSSM (Certified Surgical Services Manager), CRNFA (Certified RN First Assistant), CNS-CP (Certified Perioperative Clinical Nurse Specialist) and APRN (Advanced Practice Registered Nurse).
I greet my student’s families in a polite and respectful manner during each encounter. Respect of religious and cultural backgrounds, family structure, and parenting styles is vital to the foundation of a successful relationship. This is done by having pictures and books representing diverse religions, cultures, and family dynamics in the classroom. Religious holidays are not celebrated in my classroom. For instance, instead of Christmas, we celebrate Winter Festival and talk about snowflakes. I celebrate different cultures monthly to not only expose the children to a new culture, but to also show how each child is special. Monthly I send home a family poster for homework with different themes to promote inclusivity not only for the student but also for the families. The posters are then hung on the wall. Discussions about different family structures is encouraged as well and supported with books such as “The Family Book “by Todd Parr.

This week in the field as an intern for the Department of Social Services, I was able to complete in-office tasks and complete a home visit with my supervisor. On Monday my supervisor informed me she and other coworkers were in need of creating a new resource manual that would be up to date with the current resources in the Midlands area. Therefore, one of the tasks completed this week was creating a resource manual that would have more resources with up to date numbers, addresses, and contact persons. During this process, I was able to understand the importance of workers having the manual up to date with more resources added to it. Competency skill 9 states a professional social worker, “Actively refers clients to community resources.” With this being required of a professional

I am an Air Force veteran that separated from active duty a year ago to pursue a college degree because I know I have more to offer to the world. I am currently chasing a double degree major in finance and criminal justice. I want to put my degrees to use by working for a federal agency. As the youngest of three, I am used to having stuff handed to me, but I broke out of that habit to at the age of nineteen. The military is helping me pay to be a full time student.
