2/25/16 Area of Computer Science and technology
The areas of computer science/technology has ten main areas that we need in our everyday lives. The two computer science fields I am interested is Computer Forensics Investigator and Cyber Detective. They both have to do with computers and figuring out evidence to put suspects away but they involve different steps. Computer Forensic Investigators work with law enforcements agencies and private firms. Cyber detectives work with law enforcement agencies, private businesses, corporations agencies and regulatory agencies.

Military and government use cyber detective to help solve cases. In Identity Theft many of the crimes could be preformed in one county. Cyber detectives use steps to solve the case. They get information from the victim like their date of birth, social security number, email, credit report and account number. Then the have to determine the motive and examine financial credit bureau documents. They must contact all appropriate federal, state, and local agencies like FBI,Postal Inspection service, Social Security, Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They must develop informants for potential suspects. Cyber detectives must obtain Federal cooperation and funds.Cybercrime investigators involve number of cases with FBI. The FBI investigates any computer based high tech crimes including cyber based terrorism, espionage, computer intrusions and cyber fraud. The process of investigating cyber crime they must take citizen complaint, locate IP address of suspects, gain access to IP address from Internet Service Provider through Warrant or court order. If suspect is outside jurisdiction they must contact appropriate authorities to handle the suspect. They also must seize suspects computers and hard drives used in …show more content…
Also many people become Computer Forensics Investigators after spending time in law enforcement. Most people can get a job easier if they have graduate degrees because it weights higher. They must have computer experience and investigative skills. Many may need forensics training.
The college majors to become Cyber Detectives is they must have a high school diploma or bachelors degree. The majors to become a cyber detective are computer security specialist, digital forensics, criminology, criminal justice, computer science, and human services. They are required to have training through the their career. Also many of them come from law enforcement backgrounds. Many are assigned to a agencies or business that needs them. People with detective background or worked with FBI could be weighted higher when getting the
As human overpopulation increases, there will be a lack of resources and basic necessities that will become scarcer elevating crime rates. The broad field of forensics has numerous jobs that specialize in a specific duty. It provides and analyzes evidence in laboratories or offices that helps both state and local police departments solve crimes. As technology advances it also aids in the advancement of forensics. Forensic Science Technicians are required to have a variety of distinctive skills to assist in criminal investigations.
In forensic science, there are many jobs people can go into. In criminal you can be a crime investigator or work behind the scenes in the lab. A crime investigator analyzes the crime
The path to a CSI career can begin with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Coursework typically includes criminal justice theories and research methods. Graduates of a criminal justice program should be able to:
Forensic Science is an excellent career to be in, though to be in the career you must have a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, physics, and natural science. Careers for forensic science would be working in labs, courtrooms, with the FBI, or with the CIA (Funkhouser). Therefore forensic science can be a very important part of a crime and can be used for many things and
Many law enforcement agencies has development special division and hired computer experts to help combat the increase of cyber crimes.
The FBI is hard work. They investigate bank robbery, copyright breaches, civil rights violation, bribery, extortion, kidnapping, various types of fraud, organized crimes, terrorist organizations, and suspected drug trafficking. They also have many different investigative programs. Indian Country, Art Crime, Crimes Against Children, Cyber Crime, Civil Rights, White-Collar Crime, Fugitives, Environmental Crime, Violent Crime, Violent Gangs, Organized Crime, Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence, Background Investigations, and Public
After further research I learned that a forensic scientist needs a degree in a natural science such as biology, chemistry, or in forensic science, or biochemistry. When applying to colleges most did not offer or have a major in biochemistry, but all had general chemistry and biology. Central State was a school that did not have biochemistry, but after further research I learned that there was something for me here. I learned that the school offered a major in chemistry, and after completion of the chemistry courses I could minor in forensic science. However, with a chemistry degree I would be qualified to work in any crime laboratory in the United States. Many undergraduates will get a degree in a natural science and go on to get a master’s in forensic
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is an intelligent, driven, and threat-focused organization that serves to protect the nation. The Federal Bureau of Investigation plays an important role in the United States. Currently the Federal Bureau of Investigation has more than 200 violation categories of federal law. It defends the United States against terrorism, public corruption, cyber-crime, counterintelligence, civil rights, and organized crime. The
CSI CYBER – FEATURE ARTICLE DIRECTORS: Anthony E. Zuiker, Ann Donahue Carol Mendelsohn CSI Cyber, just one of the many CSI () that have been created in the past fifteen years with Cyber being the most recent, the main plot of this TV show is just about the same as all the others: investigate and solve the crime. But this one is a bit different with technology having a more important role through-out the series. In reality with cyber-crimes, technology would still have the same roles but less glamorous as in the show. This series is mostly accurate aside from the occasional mistake with the use of terminology and some processes which are performed when solving a crime. Other mistakes that appear in the show are the coding structure that would be shown on some computer screens through-out various episodes.
Some other jobs for the criminal justice career would be a lawyer. In order to became a lawyer it requires a high school diploma and a doctorate degree. A doctorate degree would take up to three years to get. The purpose of a lawyer would be to defend his or her client on the client's behalf. When first starting out as a lawyer the students will get their hands on training almost as soon as they start law
Chapter 4 in the textbook contains links to several web sites which are important to understanding computer investigations. In this section, list the web sites discussed in the chapter and include their Internet links along with a brief description of what is contained at each of these sites.
Have you ever wondered how police officers know who to arrest for a crime? Well in order to catch criminals, evidence and witnesses must be gathered. Those who perform these tasks are known as detectives. Detectives are also known as criminal investigators. I have always liked solving mysteries and, that is exactly what detectives or criminal investigators do. I was inspired to pursue this career by the television series “Law and Order: Special Victims Unit”. I watch this series a lot and, the show gave me a televised perception of what the career might be like. There are many risks when considering becoming a detective. However, the benefits and end results outweigh the risks and disadvantages of becoming a detective.
Since the widespread use of computers, computer crime has caused an increase in computer investigations during the twenty first century. Some reasons for investigation include: identity theft, such as stolen social security and credit card numbers, to find evidence of a cheating spouse, to investigate hackers on a computer system, to find evidence of child pornography, and much more.
The training needed to be a forensic scientist is either a bachelor's in forensic science or in a natural science. This means that a normal police officer would not be qualified to act as a forensic scientist unless he had one of those degrees, and that would mean someone fresh out of the academy wouldn’t qualify unless he had one of those degrees.
Becoming a computer systems analyst doesn’t entail any specific certification, though bachelor’s or master’s degree is typically required in information technology. As this career is so linked with business, so taking couple of business classes would be beneficial although, it not required. Computer systems analysts need to always keep themselves updated on the latest advances in technology, and can earn credentials from the institute for the certification of computing professional to set themselves apart from their
