Did you know that there are 17 types of instruments in concert band? Musicians use their musical abilities to perform and express musicality. If a person chooses to be musician, he or she would have to focus on one particular instrument, but if someone wants to be a music director or conductor, they would need to have general knowledge about all the instruments. Musicians need to be efficient when repairing, cleaning, and maintaining their instrument to make their instrument sound at it’s best. To get into a specific group or position, you would need to audition by playing certain excerpts to show your musical skills in front of a judging panel. If a person’s desired career is to become a professional musician, there are three essential requirements
To begin with, in concerts you sit on stage in front of a crowd. It gives you self confidence. In a concert you have to play loud. In a concert when you play the notes they have to be correct so the song sounds good, and it has to be loud so everyone can hear you. You will have self confidence for playing the notes right. Having self confidence helps you in band and social wise.
- I’m very passionate about my music, heavy metal, I’m experienced with some instruments and I would love for this genre to get the recognition it deserves.
Imagine a third grader, small and blonde, standing on a stage that practically swallows her. She gazes in awe at the bright lights that seem to tower miles above her head; likewise, she follows with a stare, fixating on the hundreds of darkened faces that remain directly in front of her. Unlike her classmates who fidget with nerves beside her, she feels a rush of adrenaline. What may have seemed to some an ordinary choir concert in a dull auditorium, was, to me, a life changing moment. Ever since this day, for 9 years now, I have had an unwavering passion for music and performing. As I aged, I found myself excitedly learning how to play 7 new instruments, but even considering the vast number of bands, orchestras, choirs, and instrumental lessons that I joined, I noticed myself
* “when you speak with great educators, and look behind the test scores, the lessons learned in studying music, learning to play an instrument, playing in a band, learning to read music, all provide a richness to a child's education that will last a lifetime,” (par 1).
Stereotype’s fills the halls of secondary schools all across America, from your athletic super stars shooting hoop in the gym to the geniuses swiftly flipping through books in the library. However, there is one room where every stereotype mixes together for one purpose! In the band hall people from all backgrounds come together to create a beautiful melody. Regardless of your ability to slam a home run, grow a multitude of crops, or make a scientific discovery, everyone can join together, unite, and play music without any draw backs from stereotypes. Music is more than a class, it’s a sanctuary to escape the typical chaos of school. Participation in band avails each musician to an infinite journey of creative expression connecting to a language
Sting instruments are musical instruments that are made from wood and have strings. They make their sound when their strings vibrate. This causes the body of the instrument as well as the air inside to vibrate too. The strings are either plucked with the hand or a bow is drawn across the strings. In an orchestra the four string instruments are the violin, the viola, the cello and the bass.
With over 20 band seniors leaving high school this year a substantial amount of the band is moving on and leaving a gap to be filled in. As a rising junior at Bristol Central I recognize that successful upperclassmen transition from being a follower to a leader and I believe that it is my time to show that I will help lead the band in the same direction as prior effective band managers.
This year I am participating in the Area West Elementary Enrichment Band where I play the clarinet. I am proud of this because it is a large achievement in my passion, music. In grade 6 I was first introduced to the clarinet and instantly fell in love with it. Today I continue to play the same instrument. In Enrichment Band, I get to meet and play alongside other musicians who have the same passion and drive for music that I do. I also get to seek further learning opportunities within the band, such as the mc script I have received for the upcoming concert. Overall, the band is an excellent learning opportunity and I am truly privileged to have that opportunity available to me.
Brass bands survived and thrived by incorporating popular music. Contemporary brass bands are no exemption to this either. This chapter examines the particular pieces that have been a part of the repertoire since the turn of the twentieth century. It will concentrate on how the band members used popular music into their own style to fit the band's instrumentation, technique and style.
The film And the Band Played On shows the drastic increase of Aids most especially among the gay community which poses many questions. The purpose of the film’s research is to conduct studies in order to note the cause and the spread of the disease in the western developed countries (‘Plot Summary’, 2015). The primary research questions evidently presented in the film And the Band Played On, involve; what causes Aids in the society? How the disease is transmitted from one person to another?

I work full-time as a Nursing Tech on the Mother Baby Unit at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This in turn has led to working closely with many doctors, and shadowing with them. I am currently shadowing Dr. Odell Wilson, in our NICU. Although I have only been in the NICU for a short time, it has shown me the impact that caring for just one patient has on an entire family.

One thing that over the years I’ve become very good at is learning how to play many musical instruments. The different factors and components of this learning process include learning music theory, learning the basics of an instrument and how to apply different skills to various types of instruments such as string, brass, percussion and wind. Some of the instruments that I have learned are piano, organ, harpsichord, keyboard, guitar, bass, mandolin, trombone, cello, banjo, harmonica and soon the fiddle. Each of these different types of instruments required a different basic skill set.
