1.) I chose the book, Confessions of a Murder Suspect because my grandma recommended it to me. She recommended it to me because she has an obsession with the author, James Patterson.
2.) The setting of the story is present time New York in the Angel’s apartment. The whole book happens within a month when it’s late winter-early spring. Throughout the story, the Angel’s jump around the city of New York, their hotel, and Dakota.
3.) The author captured my interest at the beginning of the book with a murder. The main character, Tandoori (Tandy) wakes up with a knock at her door. She opens the door and it was the police. The police said Tandy’s mom (Maud) and dad (Malcolm) have been reported in as dead. Tandy’s confused because she has been sleeping the whole time and her parent’s room is right beside hers. Tandy didn’t hear any noises that would wake her up except the loud knock at the door, which was the police.
4.) The leading character in the book is Tandy Angel, she is a genius, has no emotion because of the pills she had to consume daily before

Someone could be gone just like that. A negative comment was how the story was laid out. Everyone was too perfect and had no personality. At the end, they have adjusted without their daily intake of the pills and it got a little more exciting which helped. Also, the author just brought up things in the novel that were never explained and just threw in there. For example, they were always talking about the Big Chop but they never explain what it is.
7.) Questions I would want answered are 1. Will we ever get the full story of Tandy’s past? 2. What happened to Matt? 3. Why did Malcolm agree to die with Maud when she already has stage four cancer and Malcom was cheating on her with Samantha but died for true love? 4. How would the story be told if it was in Hugo’s (Tandy’s brother) point of view and not Tandy’s point of
6. My favorite quote from the book is “Do you ever get the feeling that the whole thing is changing? Like
3. Examine the cover of the novel. What images do you see? How do you think the images are connected to the story?
The setting takes place in present day Texas throughout the whole novel. The setting takes place in modern day Texas. The main characters are Sunny Reynolds- the main detective who was 13 years old, Jasmine Reynolds- Sunny’s older sister who was loved by everyone and known the perfect child. She was reported dead when there was a fire in the building that she was in, but was never dead because she sent a letter to her family saying that she ran away for a little while not knowing that they thought she was dead, Deborah Hallard a girl who looked and pretended to be Jasmine Reynolds (the girl who died), but knew everything
In The Murder of Helen Jewett, Patricia Cohen uses one of the most trivial murders during the 1800’s to illustrate the sexiest society accommodations to the privileged, hypocritical tunneled views toward sexual behavior, and the exploitation of legal codes, use of tabloid journalism, and politics. Taking the fact that woman was made from taking a rib from man was more than biblical knowledge, but incorporated into the male belief that a woman’s place is determined by the man. Helen had the proper rearing a maid servant, but how did she fall so far from grace. Judge Weston properly takes credit for rearing her with the proper strictness and education. Was Helen seduced at an
8. How do Delia and Philomena help Angela after Margaret dies? Do you think this is a good idea?
In this summary response we are summarizing the article “On Punishment and Teen Killers”. In this article Jennifer Jenkins talks about her sister’s experience and how it was caused by a teenager. And what she is basically trying to make a claim on how teens do deserve to go to life sentences. But yet she does not have any experience since she is just a teacher.
2) Tell me about one aspect of the book you found most troubling (i.e. an issue the author addressed, a recommendation she may have made, a particular philosophy or idea she promoted)
In the story Cohen makes use of the most trivial murder of 1836 to show the twisted societal accommodations of those who are considered privileged, hypocritical channelled views towards sexuality and legal codes exploitation with a mingling of tabloids journalism and mere politics. In her story Cohen brings out a really sensational fact that a place for women is determined by a man.
9. The author wants you to see how his seclusion drove him to madness and that a human being cannot be created.
Tan develops her relationship with the audience by allowing us inside of her head and her private conversation that she had with her mom after Robert left. This helps to appeal to the emotions of the audience
B. Its worst feature: I think this book’s worst feature is that it is not very interesting. This book doesn’t keep your attention. On various occasions the author goes into so much depth that the reader forgets the main idea that he is trying to get across. I found myself reading the same lines over and over because I wasn’t paying attention and wasn’t really reading it.
Kara Tippets, a thirty-eight year old married Christian woman with four children suffered from metastatic breast cancer. Tippets strongly did not believe in assisted dying for many reasons. She slowly started accepting her condition over time and knew that her day of death was coming soon. Since her husband was a pastor, they strongly believed in the Christian way to fully live their lives to the best of their abilities. However, a twenty- nine year old woman named Brittany Maynard did not believe in assisted dying. She was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor and decided to end her life before the tumor progressed and before her suffering worsened. Maynard strongly believed in the phrase “death with dignity” and was forced to move to Oregon from California to make physician-assisted dying legal. Only five states made physician-dying legal and California did not make it legal until after Maynard had passed away. Oregon, Vermont, Washington, and California were the other four states that made the procedure legal to any individual. Brittany Maynard had chosen to inject herself with lethal prescription with the assistance of a physician on November 1, 2014 to take her life away, but Kara Tippetts did not agree with her decision.
The novel is written in 3rd person omniscient. This outside voice affects the plot by allowing readers to look into the mind of multiple characters, not just one. It allows readers to have an insight that the characters do
"Angel [The Darling]" and "The Lady with the Little Dog" each take place in several places. Setting is the place where the story takes action, and Chekhov does a tremendous job describing
The National Geographic film, A Portrait of a Killer, examines the types of stress that living beings can endure, and how it can thus affect the rest of their bodies. Severe chronic stress can lead even lead to the destruction of brain cells. Dr. Robert Sapolsky is a neurobiologist of Stanford University who has been researching stress for over thirty years. In order to study stress and its implications upon nonhumans, he went to Africa to study baboons. This species has only three hours of stress caused by eating, and the rest of their daily routine is consumed by about nine hours of free time. Much like Western society, baboons socially stress out one another, as they have social hierarchies to regulate how them interact with one another.
