In this scene of the play, Juliet is met with the internal struggle of whether or not she will drink the vial Friar Laurence has given her as part of the plan. In the song the lyrics introduce with how “Some people watch, some people pray” “some people hope, some people pray.” I believe this is Juliet's internal conflict on how she is praying for a miracle for people to watch. The next line that the play reflects is where it says “Cause even heroes get the blues or any misery you choose we like to use and we were born to lose”. When people hear of Romeo and Juliet they think about a tragic love story of two young people who died because they could not bear being without one another, but how did that tragedy come about? Romeo and Juliet meet at a party one night and immediately fall in love. They soon find out they are from families that greatly despise one another and know that they should not be together but they are already too far fallen for each other. Romeo is soon exiled and so they decide to run away together because Juliet does not want to be without him and that plan ends up going downhill. Romeo and Juliet's parents were bad influences on their kids because of their refusal to end a long lasting feud, teaching hate towards the opposing family and pushing their kids to do things against their will.

In this essay I will address how conflict is successfully used in Act 1 Scene 1 to prepare the audience for the rest of the play. It will firstly show how Shakespeare uses physical conflict between the two feuding families. Secondly I will demonstrate the idea that Shakespeare introduces emotional conflict through the character of Romeo, and his outpourings of love for Rosaline. Finally I will show that the character of Romeo demonstrates both physical or external conflict and emotional or internal conflict. The purpose of the prologue is to clearly outline the plot of the whole play in fourteen lines and it also allows the audience to be settled before the actual play

All in all, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet consists of family love, such as when Juliet married the son of her family’s enemy and when the Prince got personally involved in the family feud because his relative, Mercutio, dies in one of their arguments, friendship love, such as when the loyalty Mercutio and Romeo gets Mercutio killed and Romeo banished, and romantic love, such as when Romeo was madly in love with Rosaline and when Juliet and Romeo fall in love and get married. In Romeo and Juliet love is emotion of deep affection usually if not always accompanied by conflict. Love and conflict are the same as comedy and tragedy; two sides of the same coin.
